Re: Transdev Greenfield changes
The online survey they have up so needs to be fixed. The second question asking what council area do you live in, doesn't even let you select what you type as your 'Other' response, and assumes you live in the same 'relevant area' from question 1 which is not aways the case.

Re: Transdev Greenfield changes
If they were going to do through routing, they wouldn't have split it up in the first place. On the weekday, splitting it up makes sense, due to congestion, but over the weekend, where services are already limited and congestion is less of an issue or concern, through routing might be useful around...

Re: Transdev Greenfield changes
Some of the interchanges with breaking the Orbitals up are not going to work... The interchange between buses at Essendon Station between the 913 and 933 are only going to work weekday off-peak when they are 15min and 30min respectively. Weekends and other times they will never meet... The mismatch...

Re: Metro & Regional Bus 27 July 2014 changes
So far, I've only noticed one error yet to be fixed with the new local bus maps, with 606 still missing its St Kilda to Elsternwick section on the Stonnington maps.
Route 12 still has so errors across the local maps, and traces of Routes 24/31/79/95 (mostly mini maps) which will cease to exist.

Re: SCOOP - DRIVER GROUP SELLS ROUTE SERVICE
The Driver Group Metro contract with PTV runs to 30/06/2015 (i.e. for 7 years) and is for $66,976,540 in total. I presume that it's easier for the Drivers to incorporate a new company and transfer the non-PTV business to it than attempt to transfer the PTV contracts to CDC. Most probably, since the...

As it turns out, ten minutes is nice but results in 70% empty trains. Meanwhile, over on the the Dandenong line, with a 15 minute frequency, the trains are standing room only all day. Dandenong line will also get a 10 min frequency (Cranbourne and Pakenham sections will be on a 20 min frequency), w...

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
In other words you did not know anything of substance. It is best to be sure of your facts before putting something into the public arena. I clearly stated I was using examples, since the only certainty is that depots must be created before the 4th year of the contract. It has previously been sugge...

No confirmed depot sales yet, just purely speculation given that some of other private operators may have depots surplus to their current needs.northbritish wrote: So no depot sales from other companies then?

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
Getting back on topic, there is also some possible rationalisation towards the west such as the Market Rd/First Ave section of 219, which is made somewhat redundant with Route 903, which would help with late runs if this section were removed, but timetabling maintained.

**Keysborough. Technically it's actually located in Braeside 3195, but for arguments sake it's referred to as Keysborough, same goes with Moorabbin Transit, being referred to as Moorabbin rather than Cheltenham, and South Oakleigh as Oakleigh. http://www.busaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&...

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
Ventura probably let the web hosting lapse for nationalbus.com.au since it won't make sense for them to renew it for another year given it will cease to exist. Same will probably happen with melbbuslink.com.au. I think the only certainty with the new name is that there will be no mention of Veolia i...

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
Why would there be a flurry of depot sales because National and MBL have been transferred to another company? Only the North Fitzroy, Doncaster, Footscray and Sandringham depots will be transferred to Transdev (The National and MBL portion of the contract). There is no provision for the housing of ...

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
How will drivers be "allocated" to Transdev? You would expect drivers from Melbourne Bus Link and National Bus Company would be straightforward with things such as entitlements moved over to Transdev since these companies will cease to exist/operate come 1st August and the existing depots...

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
Good point (relating to 16.242 post above - added by admin) , and given they have 2 years before they can even implement timetable adjustments, I think Transdev will soon realise how bad the late runnings on the MBL routes through the city actually are. Given the provision of new depots in the contr...

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises
So for many customer on MBL routes, not much has improved, and in case of reliability , it has gotten a lot worse, and the on time running now days is appalling. Since there will be penalties for late running and cancelled services, hopefully the late running issues on MBL routes are finally fixed....

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises (ANNOUNCED)
Too bad Ventura won't be allowed to say suddenly swap an exodus of their older fleet for some newer National Bus fleet as a way to get back for not getting the MMBF tender (as stipulated in their current contract). Hopefully there is some leeway in swapping similar conditioned vehicles around, so th...

If the Port of Hastings were to go ahead, I wondering if there has been any consideration for the proposal of the third airport to be based in Tyabb rather than Tooradin, meaning Tyabb could also be used for freight.

Re: Time for a common livery?
You'll be surprised how confused passengers can be when for example a non liveried Smartbus rocks up on a Smartbus due to say other buses on maintenance, on stretches of roads shared with other bus routes, not to mention when the reverse happens, even though the occurence of that happening is minimal.

Re: Time for a common livery?
Rather than start a new thread, thought it might be worthwhile bumping an existing one. Given the recent display of the new PTV bus livery this weekend, are you for or against a common bus livery across all private operators? Advantages: - Easy coordination of livery for route services with multiple...

Looks like they've managed to fix some minor errors, but screw up others in the local maps as well. (e.g. 606 correctly updated to Elsternwick, but Hobsons Bay now displaying the older October 2011 maps, whereas previously they had the new Point Cook services uploaded)

Re: Melbourne Metropolitan bus franchises
I'm not sure what you mean... Even if Ventura wins the tender, they still have to comply with the tender arrangements by eventually ensuring that all tender operations/depots/buses are "separated" from their other operations. Under the tender documents, if a company other than Ventura win...
