Some recent Yarra Trams photos
Hi all, Have been down in Melbourne a few times in the past few months and have been out and about getting some photos of trams in my free time. Here are a few from my collection between September and February. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/720/21186380133_dc7f0ce2c1_c.jpg B2 class 2094 is seen at S...

[JPN] Double Deck Shinkansen services to end
It has been known for a while that the end is near for the Double Deck Shinkansen series of trains, these are the E1 and E4 series trains. Of course the E1 series has been completely phased out leaving the E4 as the only double deck trains, with the E4 moved to only operate on Joetsu Shinkansen serv...

Re: Bus fare box - need more information :-)
ACTION have used various types over the years, the red one in the photo is a Bellpunch and was used at Tuggeranong Interchange to load buses through the rear doors on the 333 Intertown service. I am currently restoring a Wayfarer branded fare box, I know of another person who has older fareboxes fro...

Bus fare box - need more information :-)
Hi all, We have a Farebox at the Retired ACT Transport Employees Club here in Canberra and we are wondering where it has come from. Apparently the box was used as a trial before ACTION settled on the red fare boxes (there were a few different types of red box) rather that the yellow one seen in the ...

City Bus Station Closed until further notice
Surprised this has not been posted yet, but City Bus Station (platforms 1-9) has been closed until further notice due to an explosion and subsequent fire at the Sydney Building on Monday 17th Feb. All Rapid and Xpresso services are departing from platforms 10 and 11, whilst all other services have m...

Re: What to keep an eye out in Canberra?
Hey, 1. No, NXTBUS is currently under rollout and trial. You can use the number on the bus stop signs that are rolling out around Canberra (and subsequently replacing all old signs and bus stop pegs) to text the service which will send back timetable results, sometimes you may get a real time result...

Re: Vintage Buses heading to the Sydney Bus Show.
The AEC Regal III that would be a heritage item is in Canberra is nicknamed "Matilda" and is numbered C*59351. ACTION have it as a part of their heritage collection with a (sad looking) AEC Reliance numbered ZIB050.

Re: Delivery of new trams for Inner West Light Rail Extensio
From what I have been told, these first trams that are delivered in the Malaga livery are getting a wrap rather than a repaint as they are leased. They look great in the new livery though, cannot wait to see the Variotrams get a little bit of a refresh.

[JPN] Hanshin Electric Railway
On a recent trip to Osaka I managed to spend a day riding on Hanshin Electric Railway, who operate services between Osaka and Kobe as well as Namba. Hanshin is one of three operators to run between Osaka (Umeda) and Sannomiya, the other two are JR and Hankyu and both are faster than Hanshin (20mins ...

Re: Sydney Monorail pics (my last shots). 26/6/13
I certainly disagree with the preservation of a whole set, especially when it would not run again as well as the cost and space issues associated with placing a whole set and a station in the museum. The two carriages planned (and 10m of track) is fine, it shows the internal workings of the train, t...

[Shinkansen] 200 Series Retirement
As of the timetable revision on the 16th March, 200 series trains are no longer running on timetabled services on the JR East Network. A few special runs have been timetabled before official retirement: March 30, Tohoku Shinkansen (Morioka - Sendai) April 13, Tohoku Shinkansen (Sendai-Omiya) April 1...

Re: [JR] Local and Limited Express trains 2
Yes, the 103 and 201 series trains are still in regular service on the JR West network and from what I understand this is due to them being easier to maintain (and they last longer). I believe the variable frequency traction is more costly to maintain and renew. Plus JR East renew trains more quickl...

Hey, There is a MyWay Cash fare which allows you to purchase a daily ticket.
