Re: Timetable Changes 2024,
Lidcombe has a dedicated platform for Bankstown line services. Might be a problem with trains arriving having to cross over the down T3 to get to it?

Re: Southwest Link Observations
The reasons for operators using particular vehicles is not something that needs to be subject to inquisitions here.

Could be hard to find here. Look on some UK enthusiast sites, but probably expensive.
In the meantime, get a good photograph of one, and get it printed on adhesive vinyl. Cut a base plate out of thin gauge aluminium to suit..

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
So who might be the “registered owner” of the buses?
If it were the operators, what happens when buses are transferred from one to another? RMS treats this as a sale, and the “buyer” would have to pay stamp duty on its market value?

Trip Planner is great if you need to sort out a specific trip; like planning travel around an event.
Timetables give a much broader view of services; like planning an event around travel availability.

Re: Anyone Driven A Manual Bus?
I drove mostly manual buses/ coaches for around 30 years.
Drivability varied by make/ model, even individual vehicles of the same type. Every day was a new experience until you got control of the beast.

There is route 305 and 358 going to the airport, and then the surrounding routes. T Neither of those routes service the airport. 305 only goes the Stamford Hotel in the peak hours, near the rail bridge, and the closest the 385 gets is Mascot Station. The 356 only services the Domestic terminals fro...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
Can the ESR capacity be increased by having BJ-Central shuttles (there are turn back sidings both ends)?ESR as far as I'm aware still has at least 10,000 people per hour capacity in peak as its frequency is driven by the southern half of T4, not ESR.

The Freshies do have facilities for dual levelpp boarding and it is used in busy times. The Emeralds have provisions for two gangways, but apparently only one can be used while the Freshies have to share the wharves. Outside of summer weekends and school holidays, the Emeralds are usually capable of...

He apparently was a long time driver at STA Ryde. He seemed to have a permanent shift involving 513s from West Ryde to Carlingford via (the notorious) Dundas Valley housing commission area. "FERAL VALLEY" I think he "owned" one of the N&W Mercs for that run, and was quite vo...

Re: Proposed removal of CBD increment in train fares
I Information Paper: Currently, for train travel in or out of the Sydney CBD, the trip distance is measured as the distance from the tap-on station to a ‘gateway station’ (Central, Wynyard or Kings Cross depending on the line) plus a CBD increment of 3.21 km. This is a historical legacy of the pape...

Re: Rail Observations 2024
The bus operators in Sydney operate concessions, not franchises. The term franchising is often used incorrectly. By their nature, franchisees bear revenue risk, concession holders only bear cost risk. But given that anti-privatisation was a key policy of the government during the last election camp...

Launceston has around 15 flights per day; will be interesting to see how WSI starts out. WSI would have a much larger catchment area.
