Re: Brisbane 2032 Olympiad

Yes, TV was new at the time. But savvy retailers would put sets in their shop windows, and dozens of people would hang around outside to watch the shows,

Did a tram run into it coming out of Ascot St?
Not that I'm aware of, but a Transport Minister got sprung running out of it a few years back.

I was concerned that you might have more competition for a table in the coffee shop boronia  The locals here seem to shun eat-in establishments, the bulk of day time customers seem to be itinerant workers. My favourite seat will be safe for a few years yet. Is there a better view anywhere? [T...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail

Many of the white buildings already exist as apartment blocks, although some are probably of lower height than what will be allowed under the new zoning.

Most would be within the 400 metre "benchmark". I live in North Kensington, just outside the white zone, but access to the LR is not onerous.

Most of the Thorneycrofts had gone by the time Bowden closed down. I recall that Helensburgh BS got a few of his hand-me-downs over the years.

Re: Sydney’s public transport growing back differently post-pandemic

Yes and I’m not sure if you remember , but in our initial nationwide lockdown last year, we didn’t have any reduction in public transport services despite similar steep drops in patronage, with the exception of L1 overnight services getting suspended, which never reverted back over a year onwards. ...

Re: Sydney’s public transport growing back differently post-pandemic

All light rail lines, L1, L2 and L3 are only running on a frequency of 3x an hour each, or more simply, every 20 minutes. That’s no Sunday timetable, it’s worse, they’ve gone and cut further. In the case of the CSELR lines, that’s a cut of more than 50% if you factor in that the weekday daytime fre...

Re: Ferry Observations for 2021

The current La Perouse bus terminus is about 300 metres walk to the proposed wharf. Most of the people arriving by car will probably end up having to walk further than this due to limited car parking in the immediate area. At Kurnell, the wharf would be close to the NPWS visitors centre, which is th...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening

The 420 is only a recent innovation, previously there was only the 400 every 20 minutes, so it seems it will just revert to that. At best the 420 should terminate at Domestic Terminal.

Perhaps having two services to Mascot are seen as being too "competitive" to the train?

These are virtually the same locations as the wharves for the original ferry services. I remember the original Kurnell wharf was a long way out from the shore, must be shallow water there. The laPerouse wharf was at the back of the boatshed, now a restaurant I think. There is no road leading up to t...

There are crash bars before the actual bridge, so shouldn't affect trains.
