Re: Working as a bus driver in Sydney 2022?

Rostered leave has been common in many workplaces, to ensure there is adequate staff across the year. Usually they will allow you to swap allocations with another employee.

Workplace laws have details of how annual leave is handled.

If you see this, send in feedback to TfNSW with a photo.

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan

It seems we have a new player in the NSW electric bus market - Guangtong. I noticed in the Fleetlists that NSBC is getting a Guangtong electric coach. I was expecting them to get the Yutong C12E NSBC is owned by TrueGreen. From AB&C: TrueGreen owns zero-emissions bus companies such as Foton Mob...

Re: Ferry Observations 2023

I'm guessing that's calculated for the different carrying capacities of the vessels. No, different speed/ journey time of the two types. There are also the Fast Ferries to fill any gaps in the timetables. Any app should tell people which ferry leaves next. A pity they're spread over two wharves. In...

SBS has lots of good foreign movies. But really need sub-titles to understand them.

To prevent buses being hindered by traffic making left turns, and even other buses picking up passengers, in the kerb lanes.

Re: Width & mass rules limiting electric transition in EVC report

Smaller batteries means less range, so possibly more "unproductive" time to recharge them. Providing rapid in-service charging will be expensive. The operators would have to weigh up the cost benefits or losses relative to their specific operations.

Unless they built entirely on private property, they would probably be classed as "restricted roads/lanes".

Re: Bus Observations 2023

The general public would have zero interest in what make/ model of bus they are catching, or even the fleet/ rego number; they are thankful that any bus turns up these days. At least the timings are reasonably accurate these days, which is the main purpose of the apps. If you think there is a proble...

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations

I've noticed recently that on some of R9 Custom buses, the "next stop" buzzer gives 3 short beeps, in lieu of a continuous beep.

I recall in the days of conductors, this indicated "emergency stop required".

Maybe get it back to the 38 class steam hauled Newcastle Flyer timings. I doubt they will even accomplish that. We need realistic rail but that's predicated on the government to stop jerking us off with fantasy proposals they have no intention of getting off the ground. THey could if they ran train...

A couple of weeks back you were offering $5,000 per fortnight. Why the drop in wages?

Anyway, Albo's going to pull the funding, so can't even afford this offer.

The thing is that bigger batteries are a weight penalty. There are horses for coarses and there is nothing wrong with trolly buses exept they cannot go long distances so around town OK as they do not get stuck behind each other and bikes do not get stuck in dangerous tram lines but if you need to g...
