Re: Volgren celebrates 40 years

PTA are currently Volgrens biggest customer at present. The 100 artic cap sounds about right. Pre Artic orders have been less than 100 with the former Renault and Mercedes contracts. Population and Pax growth is always considered. I'd put a safe bet that the B8 contract will be over the 10 year peri...

Local MP Ros Spence has posted a timetable for new Route 525 from Donnybrook - Craigieburn. Starts December 22. http://www.rosspence.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Route-525-Timetable.pdf Dysons got the contract. Surprising as I thought it would have gone to either Kastoria or Mitchell Cheers, J...

I used the coach terminal last Monday on my coach trip to Sydney. Very bleak and uninviting was my assessment.

Thankfully my life with them continues. Starting in Perth, now I'm in Melbourne for last 17 years and get to see them again and even travel on them regularly. Travelled on them with Swan, SCT and Path. Now I travel on them with T2B (Dineen Group), VTC (Victorian Touring Coaches), Sandhu, Mees, Dyson...

3454, 3456 and 3458 all went out this morning. Surely on their last legs now. The 7:17 293 to Wynyard ex Marsfield and the 8:14 272 to Wynyard ex Laurel Bank Cottage, Willoughby have been operated by a 14.5 every day for the past few weeks. Otherwise the other two buses seem to operate a mix of 288...

Re: Bus Routes - What would you do if you were in charge?

You could counteract that by sending the 178 down Albany Hwy to Walpole St, and have more short 177's to cover the Berwick St drop in service. Cheers! You could also run 178 along Albany Hwy to Boundary Rd and giving that a service again since deletion of routes 10, 12, 13, 3, 4 ,6 Sent from...

Today I travelled on one of Ventura's new B8RLE's #1165 delivered this year. It is the first time I have travelled on a Volvo B8, very impressive, they go like the clappers, more like B12BLE type performance, the D8 engine seems to have addressed the sluggishness issues drivers have found with the ...

There is/ has been such a club in Melbourne. A car wash as well. Its been in the news over clashes between the owners and OMCG members. The club was firebombed or something like that at one stage. I have an idea there was a change of ownership in Melbourne so maybe the original owner was relocating...

Hi all. Been a while since I've posted. I'm curious about the new Mt Claremont depot on Brockway Road located 2 minutes away from Shenton Park depot in Lennox Street. Is Shenton Park still in operation as I keep hearing about Cambridge depot lately wherever that is. Basically I'm a little confused a...

I travelled on it on Monday1st July. Around 12pm from Seaford. 4 including myself boarded at Seaford. By the time I hopped off at Cranbourne shopping centre there was about 15 on board. It had me thinking. Come summer time this service could do well with people heading to and from Seaford Beach Sent...

Agree. Herbie knows what he is talking about. Making accusations of them trying to rival another operator is not a good idea either. They are expanding their business, is all they are doing. Agree Bus-1809. I was going to say something yesterday but thought Herb may respond. I can assure you 100% i...

Would this mean that Drivers as well as Routes operated have relocated to Croydon. It would be of interest to know which Routes each depot now operates. As they are only a government contract you may find that the 20yr life applies and the SA government already has a contract for a new fleet as well. Most have been onsold to private operators

Re: Perth Compared with other cities

Perth was coming off a very low base when it was electrified in the 1990s. The system was operated by largely ancient 2 carriage DMUs on three straight out and back 2 track lines with patronage that was sufficiently low for both sides of politics to instigate action to close it. It was able to lear...

The depot sharing of routes is interesting, having witnessed it myself.
