Re: Brisbane Metro

On the weekend I caught a bus from platform 1 at KGS and noted that the new platform screen doors were pretty flash. When they open they turn Green on the edges and when the bus is ready to leave they start flashing Red around the edges. Not sure if this is meant to be an automated prompt for the bu...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2024

Fair enough - although given the buses' age it probably wouldn't take too much of a hit to condemn it. Without any public commitment to new buses, though, it might put the pressure on to repair the bus. Another observation - 1493 returned to service some months ago, too. It stands out with a new (o...

Re: Smart Ticketing and Real Time tracking Statewide rollout

It seems that they have fitted all the buses and ferries with the new readers. The switch-on for debit and credit cards can't be too far away now.

It's still continuing past Rhode Road up and to where Aldi is. This is just short of Hamilton Road

I went to Chermside yesterday on the 340 and noticed that the Northern Transit way is now open from Kedron Brook to Rhode Road in each direction. The bus that I was on in each direction was using it.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2024

I was on the Shoreline Route 280 yesterday and was lucky to experience the new zero emission bus with the new internal PIDs. Unfortunately the audio announcements were disabled for some reason. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240127/3d6fe762b9ad1397291e90967a333ccc.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cd...

Re: Smart Ticketing and Real Time tracking Statewide rollout

I hopped on a 375 today and it still had the old readers. I think they still have a way to go before turning on contactless payments on buses here in Brisbane unfortunately.

Looks like all of the South East Qld buses have new readers now, although they are still working on the Brisbane ones.

Re: NSW High Speed Rail... On Again Off Again

I found the previous fast rail authority would have provided better outcomes on the East Coast. We could have gotten more electrification as well as line straightening and tunneling to speed up travel times.

Rode this electric bus on route 600 last Sunday from Cotton Tree to Caloundra Bus Station. As well as the PID it had audio announcements for next stops together with boarding announcements, announcing the route number and direction, plus the terminating stop. Really good stuff and reminded me of the...

It would be good if they support overhead charging. That means they can be charged with the metro fast chargers while running on the network.

I was just on an outbound 444 today with an S depot number. The bus had two new readers for the front door and the middle door which was single leaf had only one new reader. Thus, three in total instead of 4 previously.
