Re: STA Observations 2020

^ Not quite. The buses inside the STA holding yard at Leichhardt are for STA. 4 bendies went to Region 3 Hoxton Park today and 6 bendies to be transferred to STA North Sydney Depot. One must of those 4 region 3 bound bendies must of been sent to Smithfield as there are only 3 bendies at Hoxton Park...

Either Anytrip is having a moment or if Newcastle Transports new Bustechs have arrived, their showing up on real time tracking as both O405NH's 550s and OH1418 510's. The new Newcastle Transport Bustechs have indeed arrived and have been spotted in service, although I cannot comment if they are the...

Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

What evidence is there that they hate their artics? Apart from the issue of fairness of comparing new with old, what's the consumption like compared to the two rigids that would be needed to replace each one in peaks? And the cost of the extra driver, even at a lower pay rate. This is simply a fals...

Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

There appears to be no replacement for the part of 136 between East Roseville and Victoria Av/Penshurst St via Smith St (industrial area) & High St. Based on the October 25 changes, it appears that Transport may issues further supplementary advice about changes to other operators in a seperate rele...

Re: STA Observations 2020

with the disappearance of route 257, will M depot pick up some 144s and 160x? Particularly as they are likely to lose 200, 343 and 340 to the East as there is now extra capacity there owing to the light rail. What I have heard is that it will be these service changes that see the spilt between the ...

Re: December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

It is my understanding that all the routes listed in the proposed network as the routes deemed to be Region 8 routes for privatisation purposes. Anything not listed would be deemed to be Region 7. North Sydney will operate the 100, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the TSA artics currently attached to ...

December Bus Changes - Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore

https://transportnsw.info/news/2020/northern-beaches-lower-north-shore-bus-service-improvements There will be changes to bus services across STA Region 8 from December (no specific date at this point). These include; A new frequent network of routes operating every 10 minutes across the day, seven d...

Noted a bus desto showing 500X Parramatta (most likely the new route no of M52). Not sure if region 7 has any changes planned later this year A previous version of changes that were going to be implemented included a 500X, although I’m not sure that it will be included in the final implementation o...

Re: List of Routes each STA depot runs?

Under the Transport for NSW contracting system, the regions refer to the 15 different metropolitan bus contract areas across Sydney. Each operating contract is referred to as a region. For example Region 9 is a contract held by State Transit, covering the Eastern Suburbs and Inner City, whereas Regi...

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan

Comparing the Bustech XDI to the Custom Denning Element is very odd. What happened 12 years ago when there was a very different bus landscape, different rules and different operators to the situation today is not a fair comparison. I wouldn’t put the fact that the XDI failed to win any NSW orders do...

Re: Private Bus Observations 2020

Personally, I'd expect more of this going forward in the future. Transport can surely recognise that some operators have excess buses (e.g. Hillsbus) and reallocate those vehicles to other operators who need additional vehicles. Why waste the money procuring new buses when you can simply move around...

Re: Surfside Buslines

In NSW, there is now a requirement for all school buses in rural and regional areas to be fitted with seatbelts, with is why I imagine Surfside has ended up with the Volgrens. If Bustech can't do low floor buses with seatbelts, I honestly wouldn't expect to see anymore Bustechs ordered for the NSW o...

Re: Where is the main terminus for Sydney bus routes?

Bus routes in Sydney don't really have a singular main terminus. As a city of 5 and a half million people, there are many major interchanges throughout the city that have a significant number of buses operating through and terminating. There is a large focus on buses travelling to the Sydney CBD and...

Re: 158 Bus Route?

The bus that operates the service appears to operate a popular 188 inbound and 180 outbound service before the 158, and goes on to operate a popular school service afterwards. I think it must have just been added into the artic shift because thats where it fits. Not sure of its history or why it has...

The next round of the changes to the bus network arising from CSELR will occur on 25 October as part of wider changes to the Inner West network. Routes M10 and M50 will be effectively discontinued without replacement in the eastern half, with the trams and other bus routes expected to take up the sl...

It really is the second of what I expect will be many smaller adjustments to the network in relation to CSELR. We had a return to High Street in August, now cut of the M10 and M50 in October. I expect changes to keep happening in small lots each time there are wider network changes. My understanding...

:!: How long does that drive take in the peak ;) I know the drive is quicker than the tram, as I catch a bus from Coogee to Town Hall each morning and it takes between 25 and 30 minutes depending on traffic. Until such a day that there isn’t a bus between Coogee and the CBD, I won’t catch the tram. ...

I wouldn't be willing to put any money on anything from the leaked plan actually being introduced. They seemed a bit spooked by the immediate swift backlash from the leaked plan and on last check, have promised actual community consultation on any changes before they occur. I don't expect them to pu...

Yes, one could legitimately include them as a fully accessible vehicle (ignoring the top deck!). State Transit's fleet is 99.5% accessible. If you can roll a wheelchair or pram on board, then by the letter of the law it is accessible. Whether there are internal steps is irrelevant And most of those...
