Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
I’m actually wondering if as part of reforms being considered if we’ll see the end of 8 then half price / return to periodical tickets. I recall the last Labor Government loved them, wasn’t that what MyMulti was all about?

Re: Farewell Transdev NSW
If you look at the state of the (Trandev) buses servicing the Hurstville area and see how absolutely shoddy and awfully maintained they are (I’m thinking the older buses from the 2000’s that you mainly see on weekdays), then honestly I don’t feel so bad seeing them as a company go tbh.

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
Travelled on L1 just now about halfway across the line, on a Citadis, and saw three other Citadis’ going the opposite direction on board; seems like a lot. I guess Transdev must have gotten comfortable with the peace of mind the additional trams have given them

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
I stand corrected then. Are we sure it’s only for one year? Doesn’t seem too worthwhile then. As for the Libs re-election chances it might not be enough to save them at marginal seats in Sydney’s west as unlike 2019, nowadays post pandemic, many people WFH 2 or 3 days a week. They’re already saving ...

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
Interesting that Opal fares haven’t featured on either major parties election campaign.
Thus, I would suspect the $50 weekly cap (as in price) won’t last much longer regardless of who wins next weeks election

Re: Bus Observations 2023
T-JH bus operating along the tram tracks around Kingsford - Kensington this morning on DRIVER TRAINING with a large number of "recruits" on board. They must’ve been offered a good sign on bonus and let’s hope it works because I heard bad pay and conditions under the private operators is w...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail
I assume to do with an almost 40 degree day and better air conditioning retention, several drivers today on L2/3 at least in the city were only releasing doors at stops (making passengers activate doors by request). Can’t comment if the same was happening on L1

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
Was this really a thing? Eesh, pretty significant You can bet they didn't do it 'for free'. Risk a penalty for not having enough Citadis to run contracted L2/L3 services due to the spares being 'otherwise engaged'. There would have been an 'arrangement'. Several citadis were already out of service ...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail
Unlike the old system there seems to be little or no scope to put the extra LRVs required to move the overwhelming influx for events. Bl##### hopeless! 6 artics is pathetic and weak. That's probably all that mob have available after offloading so many before with their penchant for one size fits al...

Re: Possible future light rail routes
Each to their own, but my personal take would be there won’t ever be an extension of CSELR, or at least for a very long time. L2 extension to Coogee would be logistically difficult with the roads available. As for L3, well, it’s already planned to be served by a future Metro. If Labor get in in Marc...

Re: 2023 NSW Election
Won’t happen. We’ve had advertising on buses as is for the last 20+ years and not a single politician has shown an inkling of a damn about the inconvenience ads on windows cause! It’s here to stay sadly. See the negative traction Clover Moores advertising billboards obstructing the footpath got? Tha...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
Noticed a Citadis operating as late as 21:30 last night. I saw it at the the bottom of the outbound ramp, and at the same time there was a CAF waiting to depart at the Central stop.. In passenger service? How interesting. As of now I thought the Citadis’ on L1 were only to be used when needed durin...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
It’s not. I caught it one recent Friday from Glebe to Barangaroo. Very scenic and nice route. However midway through the trip to my dismay, a crew member came around with an Eftpos machine to collect a full one-way adult ferry fare from everyone… as someone who had already reached the $50 weekly mar...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail
They did for a short while bring back passenger operated doors, in June this year. But nope, still considered too hard for the typical Sydneysider, so they reverted back to automatic doors not long after

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
Opal+ update As of today, the price of the “unlimited” travel pass subscription has been reduced from $50 a week to $47 a week, making it $3 cheaper than PAYG Opal’s weekly cap. Should’ve been this way from the start to be honest, who’s going to take up the Opal+ when it means being guaranteed out o...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
Good shot showing both types. Citadis looks flasher. IWLR customers are going to feel short changed when the less amenable CAFs fully resume again. They’re both the wrong type of trams for the line. However, will miss the X05’s when they soon disappear from IWLR for good, for one main reason - the ...

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
I think seeing L1 go to Circular Quay is in practice a great idea. Unfortunately, you have to ponder - isn’t the mixed running of singles and doubles (sets) going to cause inefficiencies on services towards circular quay? Is there even room for L1 services to go to CQ during peak hour seeing as the ...

There showed my upcoming bus was being operated with an ex-STA Merc. 0500LE CNG. Not impressed, I thought “wait what, Transit Systems has all these new diesel and electric buses, and they still send out this old clunker pile of junk that I thought is supposed to be retired by now??”. 0500LE CNGs da...

Re: Ferry Observations for 2022,
Had my first ride on the Emerald Class ferries made specifically for the F1 Manly service. I rode late at night when it was quiet. I sat on the upper outside deck out the front. I thought it was still pretty nice - you still get a good view from there, although far less seats here than on the Freshw...

Re: Ferry Observations for 2022,
If the F10 (Glebe <-> Barangaroo) brought in since November last year as a partial solution to the L1 drama appears to be staying permanently as its still running today, are they ever going to finally integrate this into the Opal network and accept Opal fares? Or better yet even just let people use ...
