Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations July - December 2016

And finally, what are the plans for East Preston Depot? Based on this PTV travel notice: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/live-travel-updates/article/route-86-permanent-stop-closure-from-saturday-8-october-2016/ , East Preston tram depot will be closed from the 8th of October. What about all the trams th...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations July - December 2016

I noticed it to. I was under the understanding that the D2s were Brunswick based and used on route 19. Maybe Malvern has inherited some as both depots share route 8. I'm curious now as well. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk No, Brunswick still has all D2s and they are running them on 8 and 19. ...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations July - December 2014

Z1.28 and Z1.59 have received emergency exits on the window behind the back door.

Also, last Friday I caught some Combinos on 70a cricket extras and noticed they are now able to announce stops there too.

Re: Funny signs you've snapped!

Saw one last year at Dufan (amusement park near Jakarta, Indonesia) on a flume ride. Because it was in the middle of the ride, I was unable to take a photo, but it said "Please do not stand and bowed when the boat slide away"

Re: What Public Transport Did You Ride In Today?

Absolutely fantastic today. Caught an X'trapolis and was actually happy about it, enjoyed tram diversions caused by the Melbourne Cup parade (with Grenda Bus 669), and chased a route 19 Z3 (missed it, but it was worth it because I caught my favourite Comeng). Metro X'trapolis 144M-1372T- 143M -919M-...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations July - December 2014

Not sure if this is news but most city stations has have there garbage bins removed from the platforms Apparently it's due to a terrorist threat (worried that terrorists could hide a bomb in a bin). They say it should encourage people to take their rubbish with them, but that is rubbish. It will ju...

Spotted two As running not in service along Plenty Road today, Not very unusual, As often appear on the 86 in peak hour, and rarely at other times. An exception is when something like the Grand Prix is on, then it is mostly A class... As do NOT appear "often" on route 86 at ANY time. An A...

Z3.135 and C.3017 are now in PTV livery. Will there be extra trains operating to Caulfield for the Glen Waverly line? Southbank's A2.262 was out and about on Route 57a Showgrounds shuttles this afternoon. Here it is on a short runner to the Queen Victoria Market in between 57a shuttles. During the royal Melb Show, there were quite a lot of As making appearances on 57a this year (which I don't think has happened in...

Re: Who do you know?

Don't know anyone either. I try to keep my interest in public transport to myself too... interfacing school life with enthusiast life is something I fear a bit. Also, school makes it hard to pursue your transport interests . Ben I'm one of those people who's not the only railfan at my school....

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations July - December 2014

On weekends not all high - capacity trams are required to run the 96. So it won't be unusual to see Des and maybe even an E out on route 12 on weekends Not Es, at least not until there are enough for that. My idea would be to run all Es and C2s on 96, plus a few D2s to fill it up, then put remainin...

Re: Victorian Rail & Tram Observations July - December 2014

It could've been used for a changeover due to a defective A class, or maybe the driver wasn't qualified to drive the A class yet. It's bound to happen from time to time but generally only A class will be used on the route 12 due to the short terminus at Victoria Gardens (approx. 36m in length). I t...
