Re: Dress Standards on Public transport
While there isn't anything I can see, the Act (in NSW at least) that more likely would cover such a thing is the "Passenger Transport (General) Regulation 2017", particularly starting from Part 5 ("Conduct of passengers and other persons in or on public passenger vehicles, trains and ...

389. - What would people think if this service was split up into route 389 North Bondi - Circular Quay and route 443 The Star - Town Hall loop service? I wonder how many passengers travel between Pyrmont and Paddington? Assuming both routes (and thus operators) have sufficient resources, it's defin...

Re: Timetable Changes 2024,
That it is allegedly impossible for neighbouring regions held by separate contractors to operate a route crossing both areas sounds like a cop out to me. Somebody might want to figure out how Transit Systems manages to run so many of the region 6 routes into the other areas. Ones that come to mind ...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
261 is an interesting one given it currently goes River - Shirley - Pac Hwy. Particularly city bound it's nearest stop is a few blocks away from the new station. Not sure if many options for rerouting either given the terrain. At most, they do something like what happened with the 254 and 290 [whic...

Re: Sydney Metro - Tallawong to Bankstown
Amid all of the discussions about metro extension to Bankstown, what seems to be far less discussed are the bus changes associated with metro extending into the City. One of such that comes to mind: will routes like 288 be curtailed and more local route options provided to connect to former ECRL st...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
I was in Crows Nest yesterday, and I noticed that the bus tops in Burlington St still have the J poles showing section numbers and stand numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) Information on apps refers to Stands A, B, C, etc. I sent feedback to TfNSW about it and there was response was" The bus stop signage...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
Assume here's ok. Spotted at a bus stop on Acacia Road, Sutherland is this sticker for Southtrans Connex. That's from a while back (as somebody who used to live in the area served by them - actually it was "Connex Southtrans" at that stage). Have to try to remember to see if a similarly a...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
Speaking of full/reduced timetables, I wonder if Keolis Downer will ever return to the "full" timetable for routes like the 144. One way I can tell is that they reduced the number of morning services around 7am heading out of Chatswood, though the sign at the bus stop I use from when it st...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.
Speaking of school term timetables, is it normal for operators (in this case, Busways ex-STA region 7) to have route services that aren't marked as "school day/term only" in the timetable (I'm guessing it is)? In this case referring to a route 252 service that should leave King St Wharf a...

Re: Bus Observations 2023
291 operates in school vacation as well as it is for Aruma Disability Services, not a normal school service. Then, why isn't it classified as a public bus route? Educated guess is that "school services" would be for the use of those going to/from the facility it serves (typically those at...

Re: Parramatta light rail
Speaking of testing, given the light rail vehicles (or trams [?]) being used use a battery in the unwired sections, is there a short bit of overhead at the Westmead terminus for recharging or does it have to get back to the wired section in North Parramatta before it can charge? Something tells me i...

Re: Bus Observations 2023
I suspect with the 10/12 changes, Green Square has now replaced Zetland as the official terminus. Although most buses still show "Zetland" and "Joynton Ave" which does correspond to the last stop (the one with ID 201718), rather than a stop on one of the other streets. Granted i...

Pretty sure the Green Square end of the 320 route is still not open as yet, but have seen a couple of route 320 buses with "Green Square" as the destination of late (bus 8440 this afternoon was the latest sighting). Can only presume that the driver just selected that (instead of "Zetl...

I've seen the white tape over some of the 'hop' style signs for the 651 at Castle Hill - was there a time when the 651 wasn't between Rouse Hill and Epping? Is that off the B-line destos? No - pretty sure it was one of the 27xx Bustech Volvo B7RLE buses on route 144 where I saw it (the "Chatswood" and "Manly" examples were from this). The B-Line ones, while mixed case, don't have "via" destinations last time I checked - th...

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Speaking of hard to read destination boards, some of the Keolis Downer Northern Beaches Volvo B7RLE Bustech buses have destinations that previously showed destinations in "all caps" (eg. CHATSWOOD, MANLY) but now for some inexplicable reason use what appears to be a smaller font and mixed ...

Re: Ferry Observations 2023
There are signboards at each wharf which show when/where the next service for each destination wharf departs. Article today said 500x buses could start using Rozelle tunnels. Paywall so didn't get details - does anyone know? More unusual tracking for TSA "Mercedes MERCEDESBENZO500LE Volgren CR228 (1505 / MO6187)" with Mercedes duplicated once in normal and once in all capitals. Looks a lot like how the Euro 3 Volvos that were originally used on the T-Way were originally setup in the tracking, as they show up ...

Re: Opal 3 LGA free zone
Here's a idea it's called the Opal 3 LGA free zone ... Yes it would be far too complicated - if anybody can cast their minds back far enough the former TravelPass zones, and the fact they sold some passes for specific zone groupings/pairings, was complicated enough figuring out the boundaries. The ...

Would have thought the clocks on the Opal equipment were synchronised, but for whatever reason the bus I got to and from work today (incidentally the same bus) had its clock one hour behind. Since I got on the bus about a half hour after peak period started both times, this had the result of chargin...

Re: Bus Observations 2023
That is where it would help if tracking identified the bus concerned as is done in the Northern Territory and some other locations. On that, isn't it the case that the bus itself is tracked, but the public using tracking apps/sites don't see which bus it is in particular (originally did show the bu...

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan
Last year the story was that any buses freed up would go to other operator who are not yet getting electric buses to improve the age of their fleets. That would make sense as well - presumably operators (by region) would shuffle their fleets as some of their depots may not be getting electrified as...

Re: Bus Observations 2023
The relocation of the St Leonards outbound Bus stop should help with the 114 merge across 4 lanes right hand turn into RNSH. Hopefully they'll also throw a B light into the deal as well, to help rail buses turn into Herbert st. The N90/N91 will have their own stop at the eastern end of the other tw...
