Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

They still do today. There is at least one T721 that leaves B1 KW St before 4:30, and then goes back $ to B1 to start another T721 or similar. These are the downsides of having such a small contract area. And 1331 is out today. Not as unusual as 1332 doing a 'GA3' this month though. And another obse...

Re: Virtual Transport observations

All stops to Bridgewater. I've uploaded this before. This relates to an attempt at creating a 3d NL232 CNG railbus.

Most 'enthusiasts' in SA hate them for some highly unjustifiable reason.

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

Many PT users are exploiting the discontinued sales of paper tickets. It will continue to be a problem indefinitely. I have observed a significant increase this year compared to last year as a passenger alone. Unless the departments brings the ticketing system from the 1980s back into the 2000s, the...

Re: Bustech and Cummins E bus collaboration

@Tonyp Are you for real in saying that there are interstate ones still have the window lines almost above the roof of the bus? That glass must surely be strong if it's on the outside. What I hate about them is the extreme discomfort, and the playground like interiors. I hope the other manufacturers ...

Re: What makes you happy today?

Port's good run finally crawling to an end last night thanks to dare I say it, Richmond. They made this year a little less condemnable.

Now I don't give a stuff who wins the flag, as the Crows are clearly not playing in the grand final.

Re: Bustech and Cummins E bus collaboration

In Australia, you only have to provide the body to win contracts. There are no requirements/thresholds whatsoever re quality and passenger comfort.

The Adelaide versions are shocking, and very primitive as well.

Re: What gives you the S&#T's!?

Drivers that decide to have a quick 'personal needs' break, after starting their next run without even putting the desto on display. And add some (very minor) speeding to make up time. Morphettville depot will certainly hear about this by next week. From personal experience, they seem to follow up o...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

Regarding Mile End, the infrastructure is intact and usable. Why let it rot away whilst being unused? The Overland is on borrowed time (when the border restrictions ease enough to enable it to be ran again). Even if there are just a tiny handful of commuters that use it, it is still not a waste of m...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

Oh well the next line that will be improved is Gawler which they are proposing more frequent and faster services. Noting the only way they work out faster for Gawler services is that the EMU's have a much faster acceleration (metres/second) that the Diesel Electrics. As for improved frequencies thi...

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

There are no signs of any 1000s or 1900s being relocated to Edinburgh North at the moment according to the Anytrip app. All look to be doing runs in the previous TT/'LCB' contract areas.

This. It almost looks like a son is lip wrestling with his mother! I think it's the same chap who thought a handgun was a toy, and paid the price for his mistake.

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

It's incredibly stupid and selfish of the transport department. I don't know why the current train subs don't run express between Cavan and the CBD on weekends. Admittedly the trips are a little quicker. But it's still a prehistoric practise just to save 5 minutes. And what if a passenger wants to a...

Re: The Random Admet Question Thread

In line with the attempt in the 2000s to reduce patronage by having trains run express from Dry Creek to Adelaide on weekends at hourly intervals, I was thinking that maybe every second 150 on weekends could run express to and from stop 25 Port Rd to the city (and reverse), from first service to abo...

Re: Buses out of service for long periods

In the past, Southlink replaced the first digit of a fleet number with an R if it was four digits. IE 1432 - R432. But I could swear that I saw an NL recently that had it's former Southlink number with an R in front. Can't think of which one. Why would they want to use these old timers, when there a...

Re: Buses out of service for long periods

I think it may be ideal to 'sticky' this thread.

Ex Darwin MAN NL202 1357 seems to be back on the road on a run to Marion.

And MAN NL202 '234' is showing R2234 as it's fleet number. Is this an indication of it's imminent withdrawal from regular service?

Re: [Sept/Oct 2020] SA transport observations

Might make sense for them to bring back those ex Darwn NLs that were withdrawn about a year prematurely then.

1351 is the only one out of these that turns 25 soon.

Chicken Chef. I purchased a small bag of chips which were quite decent, but not outstanding. I noticed that none of the staff were wearing gloves. I also noticed that they were touching the tips of the inside of the bags with their bare hands exactly where the chips were resting against. The custome...
