Re: Overseas purchases
We're in the same position as we were with Germany in the late 1930s, ostensibly a "normal" country that we could trade with, but in reality a totalitarian country with an ideological agenda that it's determined to conquer the world with. This is the problem that the west has is that it i...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail
I don't think that would work too well with a 4-5 min frequency in each direction. Chalmers St - Chinatown - Chalmers St would take about 15 minutes. That's the thing though, think outside the box, doesn't have to be the same frequency but at least run it further than Central. They could also run p...

Does it really need a crossover though, you could have single track running on both tracks like some other cities do.

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail
The street tramway for Sydney is not really the same street tramway that exists in Melbourne and a lot of Europe. It may be at grade but is more separated. Which is why it is kind of a hybrid operation with what appears to be the "best" of both worlds. Slower speeds and longer distances be...

Re: CBD & South East Light Rail
Re trams, I think it likely that the CAFs and Citadis won't last more than 20 years. In Europe they tend to invest in updating electronics but here I imagine there'll be pressure by the manufacturers to replace the trams (more money for them) and TfNSW will be uncritical of that. CSELR is done purs...

Of greater concern that it has taken a whole day to fix a panel in a tunnel. It's just embarrassing for a new piece of infrastructure.

Re: NSW Railway Observations 2021
Doesn't matter how many signs they have, some people just have this compulsive urge to ask someone for the information, often multiple times. There was the reference to HK, but many other countries also have restricted entrances and exits so that one exit takes you to one place. The way that the Sy...

Lane Cove Council is currently in consultation on the design for St Leonard’s Plaza over the rail line opposite The Forum. There will be new bus shelters on the bridge and new lift access and stairs to a pedestrian underpass. http://www.lanecove.nsw.gov.au/CouncilConsultations/Pages/StLeonardsPlaza...

Re: Route 144 Royal North Shore Hospital
There are plans for redevelopment of the so-called Herbert St Precinct where that bridge from the station will go onto a plaza that will extend through new development, then into the "heritage precinct" (the old hospital buildings). I imagine that there would be some sort of pathway throu...

By low floor I presume you mean low entry? So despite this, they're non accessible? Don't they have ramps or is there some other reason? From memory having ridden on these they are low floor as in all the way to rear steps but have no wheelchair ramp or space. They were the precursor to the wheelch...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening
Why the continued obstinate refusal to use the Kingsford bus light rail interchange? The majority of the Coogee routes (and the one that hornet was asking about) go through Randwick Junction rather than Kingsford. Kingsford works if your coming from the far south east. I suspect the road infrastruc...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening
Because of the design of the pedestrian integration in the Centennial and Moore Park precincts this is hundreds of metres of walking. Acceptable if wholly undercover for a railway interchange but not really practical for a bus-tram interchange; moreso at 10+ minute service frequencies. The node tra...

I can't speak for the 339 and 374 but the 396 between Moore Park and Circular Quay serves a completely different area and a completely different type of trip than the light rail. The lack of a frequent Anzac Pde-Taylor Square/Museum/Martin Place is a massive concern that does need to be addressed b...

Re: New bus network arising from CSELR (L2/L3) opening
A lot of the complaints and comparisons that I hear, and this goes for a lot of the public transport in Sydney, is centered around the traditional notion of a single seat journey. The system has to be able to adopt a system that allows for transfers and encourages them rather than in essence duplica...

I take it this "combination" is something that can't be sorted by the project to untangle the lines? The main reason why there are always cascading delays when one line is hit.
