Re: Victorian Rail and Tram Observations 2024

Really really stupid question but I rode the Warrnambool train up to Geelong on Friday and it appeared to have a power van at the back, which I found unusual. Are the N class having their HEP units modified in anticipation of more being offloaded to SSR for freight use, or is this a case of HEP just...

Re: Full-time decker routes?

Route 750 from what I can remember used to be serviced by Busways' single CDi decker when it was first brought into service - but other than that I am not sure whether it was used on any of the T-way runs in region 1... definitely not full-time decker routes in that regard!

Re: Bus Observations 2023

There’s a chance some Ryde Volvo B7s might be about to migrate to Glendenning. On this topic I did spot an ex-STA Scania CB80 (2475 iirc) at Blacktown Interchange today with Mulgrave accreditation (presumably joining 2471 which is listed in FL as having recently emigrated there from M), so that doe...

Re: Bus Observations 2023

I am wondering why the Custom Denning Element, which is a 43 seat bus, is shown in Fleetlists as a 43 seater in region 9, but as a 47 seater (suggesting no centre door) with Busways and Transport Canberra. For certain, the Busways buses have a centre door. Just a simple error? IIRC the Elements in ...

Re: Rare and interesting car sightings

Taxis had a 6-7 year limit? I've noticed there are still a few BF wagons out there earning their keep with thirteen crabs, with Ford not bothering with an FG/FG-X wagon despite having ute versions. I've seen a few Camry liftbacks (SV11) on the road, but being a generic-looking 80s car they don't te...

Re: Pull cord activated next stop buzzers

Earliest private buses I can think of from the top of my head that would have had stop buttons are the Bosnjak/Westbus B10Ms - the Mk IIIs definitely had them, maybe the later Mk IIs as well (unfortunately living in eastern Region 1, which before the arrival of low-floors was a sea of O405s, robbed ...

Re: STA Observations 2020

Saw one of P's Scania VSTs (2763?) at Penrith interchange this afternoon (around 4:00 pm) laying over at where the Cooee Festival shuttle signs were (stand B) before NISing presumably back to P depot. I presume the STA got the honour of providing a shuttle bus for said festival...

Re: Summary of Buses in Transport NSW livery

On the reverse Transdev which started repaints a long time ago but then stopped is falling further behind. And further to that in the past week I have seen two older white buses (one was m/o 9118) with large red Transdev logos on the side - so it appears there are no plans to repaint them into blue...

Re: The Motoring Thread- for the motoring enthusiasts here

Must admit I am surprised LPG hybrids were never given thought here. With modern injection systems offering little to no economy loss; it's amazing the low fuel use of a hybrid was never mated with a cheap (high octane) fuel like LPG. Wonder if parts of the world with heavily-subsidised ethanol fue...

The ZF should be an 18.310. The Voith DIWA transmitted MANs are 18.320s and what rocket ships they are! They roar past my house every day so get the pleasure of hearing their retardation devices deploy at the nearby roundabout in Ettalong Beach. :D It's reminiscent of London MCW Metrobuses going by...

Re: Private Observations 2019

Transit Systems seems to have new region 3 timetables up on Transport Info today. Does anyone know what changes are being made? By the looks of things, it seems the only 'change' is TfNSW just throwing that contactless payments paragraph into the timetable. Looks like it may either be very minor ti...

I noticed what appeared to be a Volgren-bodied B10M in the parking space at Unreal Minigolf in Penrith today. It appears to have been converted into a mobile "escape room" attraction judging from the advertising on the outside, and appears to be carrying personalised plates (E5CAPE or some...

They seem to be selling more ZB's over the ditch. They can't give them away here. Saw a ZB taxi the other day though. It's all Camrys here in the Western Sydney taxi fleets, I do see the odd FG Falcon here and there though. Commodores have been out of style with the New South Welsh taxi operators f...

There's a HCF ad going around at the moment on TV that features an older Custom Coaches (Possibly MK85 bus). I'm having trouble identifying who it may belong too. Anyone have any details on this bus? Busways 1187 Was on the 775 today with it's Yellow and Dark Grey E-Leather?? Interior similar material that's used on the Volgren Mercedes at Penrith Depot and alot less slippy than the horrible Leather that Busways normally use is this a one off or is this the new Interior for Busways? The Forest ND323Fs actually look pretty good in TfNSW livery, I think it's the unique front bumper arrangement that makes it stand out. Nice photos as always Inspector! :)

Re: Route number changes in Southern Division

IIRC Premier Shoalhaven's routes (including the 101 which I presume may have been the old 731, 102 ex 732 and 103 ex 733) got new route numbers at the end of last year (or the start of this year) - so I guess the Premier group has jumped the gun before everyone with these changes really :P

Re: Tangara upgrade contract awarded to UGL

The only issue with the push rod system is car twist can get it out of alignment and stop the handle from working or cause it to false trigger. But a flex cable to the moving door panel will have long term reliability issues too when the cable's flex count finally gets exceeded and the wires break....

You still see a lot of the wide body Camrys (and Apollos) still kicking around, more so the later 1995-97 update models (equipped with remote locking). Rent A Bomb fleets love them. The XV10s seem to be rather well made and rugged (Aussie build quality of course). My pop bought an used XV10 Camry s...

Re: Private Observations 2019

Route 422 is now operated out of Kingsgrove? A plethora of CB80’s running it yesterday (late at night) I’m not complaining, Tempe is a pretty drab depot in terms of variety I do remember that at least back in the STA days (about three-four years ago) K apparently ran some peak-hour 422 runs; one of...
