Re: Victorian Route and Timetable changes 2021
If they were "handing" the route to Dysons there would not be a tender. But, whilst Dysons could well end up being the operator, a tender is required under government purchasing policy.

Re: Gawler Rail Line shutdown
Why is it suss? Perhaps Kanga sees a longer term opportunity to either participate in or tender in their own right for rail replacements. After all its a free market..... The buses could also be used for cruise ship transfers to the city when that activity eventually resumes.

Re: Volgren Discussion / Observations
Plenty of NSW Volgrens are from Melbourne. Probably more than from Qld!
Also if counting Volgren Qld production, don't forget all the straight deck, twin deck and double deck coaches produced by the original Volgren Qld operation back in the 1980s.

Re: $90 million upgrade for Stirling bus bridge
As an out of stater I'd like more justification as to why $90 million is needed to change the workload from 4 buses per hour on each stand to 2.2 per hour. It sounds more like there is excessive layover time due to poor rostering.

Question whether delivered or not yet as they've certainly not been sighted in service. But I guess by the time the printed ABC magazine comes out it will be so. They are reported to be based at Dandenong depot. Nos 1453 and 1456.

Re: Custom Element protoptypes due Nov / Dec 2020.
The Adelaide Leylands and AECs that went to other states in the 1970s had the rear door/ lobby section removed and a 2.5 inch cut taken off one side as they were illegal to operate outside of Metropolitan Adelaide due to being overlength and overwidth. This also applied to most of those sold to loca...

Re: NSW Electric Bus Plan
Is should be noted that despite the Minister stating clearly that the 8,000 was an aspirational target many in the media have chosen to refer to it as a done deal. There is no factual commitment from the government, as yet, to replace all route buses with electrics by 2030.

The Nambuccas were on Mercedes chassis though not the mainstream models. They were sold off all over the place and would all be withdrawn by now being 25+. Its important to remember that all the overspecced 0405s etc were only possible due to the dodgy nature of their financing. The rebodied 0305s a...

The bus was not in the museum when I visited last year. There were pics of it somewhere a couple of years back looking rather derelict in a yard. Its certainly MIA and can probably be presumed deceased.

Re: 2020 Victorian Budget - PT initiatives
Worthy of note is that the projected budget deficit is approximately four times that of the $32 billion accumulated by the failed Cain/ Kirner Government by the time it was thrown out in 1992.That took the best part of a decade to pay off including privatising many government assets. How and when th...
