Re: Victorian Route and Timetable changes 2021

Doesn't seem to be anything for the usual stalwart lines on the Hillside half, or a Sunday morning shakeup. At least the Upfield line is finally getting some attention though. The return of off-peak fares is good news, after being lost for eight years after the last Metcard was sold. Just need to co...

Good thing it's not going to Ship Creek.

It's been on the TV for a few weeks. For those not bothering with YouTube, it's a 1995 Volvo B10B/Volgren high floor, ex 185.

The continual ATM culling by the major banks. Two more Commonwealth Bank ATMs are being removed from Eastland Shopping Centre, leaving just the bank branch itself and its rivals, which are conveniently hidden in the far depths of the shopping centre and AFAIK off-limits to the public after about 5 o...

Re: Who operates buses in St Kilda and Brighton?

Some make no sense at all, such as Ventura's Knoxfield depot running the 742 which is nowhere near the depot (on the rare occasion, an "Invicta" bus from Lilydale can be seen running the service). It sounds even more silly given that Ventura has a depot at Oakleigh. Likewise with the former 366/367 ...

Re: WOOLWORTHS.

While on Woolworths, their plastic re-usable bags are quality 'Made in Germany' product. Recommend. Ironically, Aldi's 15c plastic bags are made in Australia. Some Woolies bags are made in Thailand instead of Germany. Coles ones are made in Malaysia. No excuse whatsoever for Colesworths to offshore...

Give them the obligatory red mark and move on. Sellers cancelling an auction when it goes for too cheap is the oldest trick in the book.

If anything they'll still have to eat the $70+ selling fee because they didn't cancel the proper way.

Re: Photoshop

National Bus Company red and yellow would have looked good on a few later buses I think, but sadly the livery ended up being synonymous with old buses (especially under Transdev which couldn't have cared less about the condition of their fleet as long as the $$$$$$$ kept rolling in), and the few tha...

With biscuits, if they're in a tin which is closed properly, they're usually fine. I've left biscuits in a tin for over a month and they have stayed crunchy without going bad. Same with lollies - a few 'cobbers' , freckles, gummy teeth, musk sticks etc - you'd tell the grocer how much you wanted to ...

Re: Rare and interesting car sightings

I saw a white AP6 Valiant V8 (yes, that's the name, the 8-cylinder models back then were simply called Valiant V8 and in their own luxury tier, rather than Regal/VIP etc.) outside Bunnings in Ringwood yesterday. Another uncommon car I saw outside Aldi two minutes after seeing the Valiant was a white...

Re: Transdev Melbourne Discussion Thread 2020

Probably the chassis. The only "good" CB30 was 574, which was a later model to the others and IIRC was actually the same chassis as the Designlines (which are also not that well liked unfortunately, for other reasons). The worst of the CB30s were the first batch in the low 500s, originally delivered...

I'm lucky my house is a bit newer than that, I've got insulation and the back of my house is facing the north while the front is facing the south with a pitched roof which gives me a massive front porch covering and the back, My other stupid "new built house next door neighbour just put a massive f...

Hate hot weather with a passion, don't remind me! Even worse when it refuses to drop below 27°C or thereabouts overnight when all you want to do is sleep for more than two hours for the first time in three days because it's been 38-41-41-42-39 with every night sitting in the high 20s. I seriously ho...

Re: DoT snipping cable on its 'classic' PTV website (save things now!)

And the classic PTV website is gone for good. RIP the ghost of Victrip, you will be missed. They weren't even nice enough to redirect old bookmarks (e.g. your local bus route) to the appropriate page, it just dumps you at the generic /timetables page and tells you to look for it yourself. When you p...

Does Krustylink need any timetables? I could scan a few from the early 2000s but not sure if it goes with the 80s/90s theme on the site.

Re: 2021 Melbourne bus retendering

Who would take over if Transdev was kicked out? If it was swallowed whole by one operator like Ventura they would become absolutely huge unless the Transdev depots were split up. For example, I could imagine Ventura gaining Heatherton and Doncaster depots (which they already had until Transdev took ...

Re: What’s your FAVORITE bus/coach model and body

Yeah, I didn't mention that the older seats like that were infinitely better than what we have now, some seats feel like you're sitting on a piece of cardboard with some fabric glued to it, especially in the low floor trams and the Siemens trains. Just seeing the classic tartan got me to smile a lit...

Re: Predictions for the 2020s

With the 'rona in place and stage 4 lockdown and a ridiculously early curfew in Melbourne (despite some regions having zero cases, unlike the less-restricted Geelong with well over 100 cases), I have little hope that the Victorian sheeple will vote Labor now. More predictions: The 2020s will probabl...
