Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2024

Some E and V buses are now kicking about with them too. V2324, E2116, E2100 all come to mind.

Re: Timetable Changes 2024,

Depending on the length of such an arrangement, it also gives an opportunity for the "new" EA to expire, and something beneficial to all drivers negotiated.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2024

Not even close to all. 1400-1500, and 5060 have received the mods. This leaves 1351-1399, 1501-1523 and the remainder of the tags (can't remember what the allocation is at the moment - 5045-5079 I think) without any modifications. An ongoing security presence at Inala in the afternoon, well into the...

Re: Timetable Changes 2024,

In the absence of any concrete information, we can only speculate, but if the competition are doing that much better, it says they either have a better recruitment campaign, and/or better measures in place to help with staff retention (E.g. remuneration, conditions in general, company morale/managem...

Re: WA Transport General Discussion & Questions

A simple question with hopefully a simple answer: why has it taken 33 years to get from series A to series C? I think the simple answer is, there simply hasn't been a need for "a lot" of new rolling stock during the past 30 years since the introduction of the A-series; there was a period ...

Re: Boarding protocols

In theory you are correct, in reality it’s not uncommon to run non stop from Bondi Beach to Bondi Junction on hot days with all the tourists, still exacerbating the situation. Even if the difference in loadings is only a meagre ten or so passengers, that still translates to an extra 120 people move...

Re: Boarding protocols

The one thing that puzzles me with all door loading, are the people who will queue up for the single-leaf back door, as a dozen or more people slowly tricky out, while the front door, and front area of the bus has plenty of vacant space. I like the back seats too, but not that much that I'll hold up...

Re: Go cards to be phased out in Queensland, replaced with Translink public transport fare pass

Presumably the idea is to be able to keep concession entitlements with a minimum of fuss, and for those who'd prefer to keep a separate card... With the frequency of glitches in ticketing equipment, I personally wouldn't like to use my own debit card(s) with it anyway. Any other business with such a...

Re: WA Transport General Discussion & Questions

For comparison, the 2021-22 budget added 3.8 million annual service kilometres for the Airport, Yanchep, Thornlie and Lakelands projects combined, with the Airport line itself using up 1.7 million of that. So either the Ellenbrook line is going to see a better level of feeder bus service than we've...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.

However, as the only bus factory in Western Australia is Volgren Malaga, buying buses that come from Adelaide or Western Sydney doesn't make much sense. Brisbane Transport, however, seem to have gone for Volgren too, despite there being a Bustech factory in QLD as well - I believe such a choice wou...

Re: Bus Observations 2024.

Do operators that hold TransPerth bus contract have any say on what buses they order or does TransPerth tell the operators we are ordering a batch of 600 Volvos and we will say how many buses each depot receives. I know Transport For NSW allows the contract holding operator to select what buses the...

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2024

At least it's only a temporary pain until the new P3 opens at Cultural Centre, and a through-lane to West End is restored (although this will involve a separate light phase at Cultural Centre as the Busway services will have to cross sides of the road here...).
