Re: When Did Computer Gearboxes Appear?
To answer the last question first which was about RENK and Voith boxes - the Council worked collaboratively with a couple of Uni of Qld students to develop a replacement "plug-In" unit to replace the failing computers which were also difficult and expensive to source. Back in the days when...

Re: When Did Computer Gearboxes Appear?
Both RENK and Voith boxes 3 & 4 speed in MAN SL200s all had computers. BCC were making their own adaptations of these in the late 90's. ZF after the 2HP45's had computers as well. The 7 CAG boxed Scanias that Bayside/National had were apparently always giving trouble, even while they were being ...

Re: Brisbane Transport Observations 2018
Well actually no, it is not the rust repairs it is definetly the Fawlty Qld TMR (Transport and Main Roads) faded number plates. It could be an exercise to see if the enthusiasts can keep up with the observations - so far they win - enthusiasts have noted more up to date changes than TfBs' own progra...

Know this an old post and correct settings are as quoted as IN 0.4 and 0.7 for Exh and is correct for a turbo motor as well - have only ever heard of 1 natural aspirated 10 Litre Volvo motor as a Volvo Penta in a standby geneset at Mt Crosby Water Pumping station

Matt what is the chassis number as they changed at least 5 to six times. Will be able to help then. Or you put the really long crank handle in.

What issues do you have "electronically" as it sounds like you have completed the major issues already.

Re: MAN 10.180 bus 1991 model - identify and source parts
You will be able to get the Uni joint from bearing suppliers-as you say Statewide Brgs but multispares is a good price and they will have the right size. Steering uni joints are ZF /now Bosch and not repairable. AllPower steering in Brisbane or other ZF agents would be the best bet, likewise the dra...

Re: Coachtrans
If I recall correctly Coachtrans Depot was at Coomera behind the Northbound Weighbridge. They started up after the Skennars sell off doing Clarries run to the coast and ended up with a mix of Skennars and Greyhound fleet. They did have at least 2 of the GBW Inters with spiders. Yes I believe Sita wa...

Re: leyland 600/680 conversion
The difference between a 600 (9.8 litre) and 680 (11.1 litre) are
Cylinder Bore (600) 4.8inches (680) 5.00 inches
Length of stroke (600) 5.500 inches (680) 5.750 inches
So as the crankshaft is different and bore size as well not really able to convert.
All for an extra 25 horses

Re: BT Scanias
TLK asked Anyone know the possible outcome as to what will happen with G when they start withdrawing the Scanias they have? G can't keep them around forever and I'm sure they'll want to eventually get new buses in to replace them (either brand new or transferred from T if they get the CNG MANs). If ...

2801 is a Volvo B8RLE / Volgren Optimus with an almost identical body to the B7RLE. It has been returned to Brisbane and was at Eagle Farm on Monday morning, & returned to 2wong for more attitude adjustments after being in Sydney and Port McQuarrie. All that therapy may all be in vain after it g...

Scania in Pinkenba, Brisbane have some that they may sell some parts off. Whites Diesels at Sandgate also.
The ones been sent for scrap are already gone and are coming back as Yutongs. There are another 9 in the line up to go soon, what are they/you after?

Brisbane River vessel speed limits is 40 knots unless it creates a marine incident, with the exception of the Town & South Brisbane Reaches between Story and William Jolly (Grey St) Bridges is 15 knots. Have often kept up with the cats along Coronation Drive at 60Kmph.

I remember Clarry Skennar bought some of these off Greyhound when he returned from retirement. They gave him a bit of grief in the short time he had the Volgrens, more the Volvo side of things with boxes and engines wanting to spew their innards out. Also remember 1 beginning the climb near Withcott...

I'm sure this has been posted before about the Setras.
I remember about 6 of them sitting on the grass at Austral all painted in Deluxe colours awaiting delivery which never happened.
