Re: Dennmack:Denning and McKinnon company.

The early Dennmaks had air operated headlight covers. During the day they would be shut (hence the appearance of no headlights) but when headlights turned on the cover would open. Being air operated and with minor air leaks they would sometimes open / closed unexpectedly - we used to say the coach w...

Brad Edwards form Armidale had the Citation after the Kings collapse, that was a long time ago now - just looking at the CASA aircraft register and it doesn't look like any Citations currently licensed in Australia ?

Re: What happened to King Brothers?

King Bros actually purchased a Cessna Citation jet which was painted in the corporate livery. When the operation folded it was actually sold to another northern NSW bus and coach operator who established a viable business with it, doing work such as very short notice trips to fly aircraft parts arou...

Re: The last manual route buses in Sydney

The Worldmasters were able to be driven as automatics, the gear selector was left in 4th gear position. This function was disabled in the late 1960s, the last ride I had in a Worldmaster driven as an automatic was December 1968. Harris Park also operated many manual buses on route service in Sydney.

Seeing those signs reminds me of the time not long after I started at Deanes Coaches / Clipper Tours when I was chatting with Ron Smith. He mentioned there were similar signs on the then route 54 with Barnes Coaches as the operator. So armed with a several new generic Bus Stop signs I replaced all t...

Re: Sydney Metro Corporate plan 2019

If the UTS Station at West Lindfield were built it was going to be 140 metres below ground. I see that the revised North Sydney Station is 31 metres below ground level. Are there any stations anywhere near 140 metres below ground ?

The JBJ was displayed at the annual bus show (then at Fairfield Showground). I remember watching the demonstration of the motor idling whilst a 2c coin (remember them ?) was balanced on its edge and did not fall over. I recall being told the JBJs were fitted with a light on the dashboard so that the...

A Sydney metropolitan company that I worked for from 1976 to 1981 did look after their vehicles pretty well. One inspection time the DMT inspector did not turn up on the appointed day, we thought nothing of it (maybe he was sick ?). The district office rang about a week later querying the inspection...

Parson sold out to King Bros in 2000. Post that sale I saw the Bedford on display (from a local historical group) at Timbertown at Wauchope on a couple of visits there. Then it became the Krispy Kreme bus on the Great Western Highway (where Bunnings is now located).
