Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2020

It is definitely repairable - 2441 and 1850 were involved in an incident 3 years ago, both suffered more damage than 2033 yet both were returned to service. It depends on the extent of the damage and whether or not the insurer writes it off, having said that looks like nothing more than a new front...

Re: VOLVO’S FIRST ELECTRIC BUSES IN AUSTRALIA DUE MID-2021

Dynamic braking is standard on electric buses. Drivers have to be re-indoctrinated that it's actually OK to use the brake as much as possible rather than a retarder! Yes well aware not just BEV buses but cars too the single pedal operation will take some getting used to for the drivers you don’t re...

A few other factors that haven’t been taken into consideration the range varies on topography, climate and driving conditions Volvo offers three battery capacities 150, 200 and the beefy 250kW with the 12.0 metre model naturally of course driving in a hot summers or cold winters day with the aircon/...

Re: Forrestfield-Airport Link Project

Maybe I should be more specific. Would the Airport Line be having its own colour code and timetable, making it the exact opposite of the Thornlie Line that shares the same colour code and timetable with the Armadale Line? Re: Forrestfield-Airport Link Project

I don’t know how many times it needs to be mentioned, it’s a branch or spur line at Bayswater same with Ellenbrook & Thornlie on the Armadale at Beckenham although that’ll more than likely be tackily renamed the Cockburn Line *trains will run every 5 minutes in peak between Bayswater & Claremont or ...

Re: Tonkin GAP MORLEY ELLENBROOK LINE (MEL)

It would also be hard to to schedule connecting buses, as that means connecting bus frequencies would also need to have odd frequencies of 12 or 24 to connect every service with a train, 6 to connect every 2nd bus to a train and 18 to connect each bus to every 3rd train. I suspect they can get away...

Re: Tonkin GAP MORLEY ELLENBROOK LINE (MEL)

It’s certainly odd agreed if this makes sense Fremantle/Midland & Forrestfield will have a slight reduction by 2 minutes so Ellenbrook trains can run into the city running trains empty to Daglish is wasteful and illogic trains will run every 12 minutes during peak times between Claremont & Fremantle...

Re: Tonkin GAP MORLEY ELLENBROOK LINE (MEL)

In order to achieve the 15TPH goal Fremantle/Midland & Forrestfield will have their service reduced to every 12 minutes this will see stations east of Bayswater have an additional 2 minute wait and same with west of Claremont this will see trains run every 3 minutes between Daglish & Bayswater & eve...

Re: Tonkin GAP MORLEY ELLENBROOK LINE (MEL)

The PDP summary has been uploaded to the metronet website. Ellenbrook trains will run through to Perth then terminate at Daglish. The show express would have been to be withdrawn in the future and timings will be very tight during football

Re: METRONET Level Crossing Removals

Wasn't Beckenham redeveloped not too long ago? Anyway, elevated rail is also pretty common in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. And yes, Oats Street crossing has been really busy since Thornlie station became operational. Maybe it was a good thing the Mandurah Line wasn't branched off from the Armadale L...

Re: METRONET Level Crossing Removals

Very happy to see the Oats Street crossing on the list, that area is one very disorganized mess and a traffic nightmare. The reasoning behind the grade separation of the inner Armadale is because of the Thornlie Cockburn link this will essentially kill two birds with one stone the new platforms wil...
