Re: Snowy 2
I know of a building in a country town where the builder went bust, and his workers, who had gone without wages, sold off the materials down at the pub. The rammed earth bricks are subsequently extremely brittle (literally crumbling), were covered in corrugated iron and effectively carry no load.
Re: Snowy 2
I asked ChatGPT
“Could snowy 2 supply power to run an underground Japanese SC maglev from Melbourne to Sydney via substations every 10 kilometers via a cable in the tunnel “
And it concluded
“While theoretically possible, the practicality and feasibility of such a project would depend on detailed studies, thorough planning, significant investment, and the willingness of governments, private companies, and communities to collaborate on this endeavor. Additionally, the specific technical details and advancements in maglev technology would play a crucial role in making such a project a reality.”

Haha. Exactly the fudgy and evasive answer you would get from a politician. Perhaps we no longer need to pay real people to be in parliament.

Re: Snowy 2
This is a great video where in 2015 German company TenneT uses positive and negative DC cables of 525 kV and 2GW and 1,000 metres long which easily provide sufficient power for the Japanese SC maglev with some left over for wherever it is needed.

Sent this email to Snowy 2 this morning.
Sydney to Melbourne via Canberra and Albury can be driven in two years using 60 Chinese TBM which will balance our trade with them and as one factory makes 280 per year 60 would be easy.

Connecting Sydney to Melbourne with a profitable proven Japanese SC maglev to eliminate trucks and planes would be easy to power from Snowy 2 while supplying power wherever needed through TenneT HVDC cables.

Re: Snowy 2
Fleet list is correct that I posted the same thing on the Canberra thread as in my mind it was very important that it is planned for now so look there.

Re: Snowy 2
This is the best update I have seen on Snowy 2 and if they put HVDC cables in to run the Japanese SC maglev they will not have opposition from farmers.
