Great photos as usual Inspector. As it is many years since i have been on the line i was wondering where the twin water columns are situated . I tried using Google Maps to locate them without luck. I noticed in the shot of 3265 coming into Couridjah there is a single column in the background.

Is that the barely used railway line that links Wollongong with the Southern highlands via Exeter? This should be the standard way to travel in the country. Lets face it, so called modern stock don't do it any faster!

It is the line that previously ran from Picton to Mittagong. It was originally the Main South line until a new line through Bargo was built. THis operated as the Loop Line until the early 1970s with a limited rail motor service, and occasional freight.

The only line that connects Wollongong with the Southern Highland is the line to Moss Vale via Robertson.

Oh yes, that one. Beautiful looking line, like something you would see on the 1970's TV series Little House On The Prairie lol!

The two columns are on the down side of Couridjah, about 100m up from the level crossing. The single column is on the up side before the platform. I'm guessing Couridjah had a good close supply from Thirlmere Lakes so there were multiple columns built.
