In that respect it does not matter whether it is STA or TSA.

I
That's cynical. If anything they are more likely to either let them go or give them a light refresh.

They're in worse shape than the last four Mercedes O4O5 '516 buses at Ryde?? Surely their days are numbered.

I remember that 3412 was one of the Christmas buses back in 2008 where it was based at Willoughby depot.

STA/Transit Systems do really need to fix the AC on the Scania L113CRLs as the aircon on 3771 was barely working. Imagine riding one on a 40 degree day.

So send in feedback to TfNSW, nothing will get done by whingeing about it here.

(probably nothing will get from feedback either, but that is another matter)

I don't think that there will be an aftermarket for the Scania L113CRBs as they are gas powered and only State Transit runs gas buses in NSW. Unless Brisbane Transport or Perth Transit would want to use them as school/charter buses as they have buses powered by CNG.

Age would be a barrier to use elsewhere.

There is a 25 year limit in Qld, and I think Perth is selling off younger buses already

Adelaide and Canberra also have gas buses, but again, age counts against them.

Someone should start a thread in the pictures section where people post their pictures of Ansair Oranas sitting withdrawn.

3530-3 were built in 1998. The equivalent bus by age in the STA fleet is Volvo B10BLE 3886, so they have quite a bit of life left in them yet.
Enjoy.

I don't know whether I've mentioned this before but all the Scania L113TRBs, CRBs and the CRLs without wheelchair seating will be withdrawn by 2022 due to the disability discrimination act requiring all buses to be wheelchair accessible .

They'll have no choice due to fleet age by then. The wheelchair access ones well follow straight after.

That is of course if TfNSW provides sufficient new buses to cover the withdrawals between now and 1922.

I've just looked at the fleet lists and noticed that quite a lot of Volvo B8RLEs and Scania K310UBs are being delivered to Port Botany depot which will probably mean that the Scania L113TRBs will be retired soon.

Willoughby (also has some L113TRB's left) is also receiving some new CB80's.

Honestly, I forgot that Port Botany actually had those L113TRB's - they're nowadays really quite uncommon in that area, thought it was only Kingsgrove and Willoughby that had a few left, as you can easily remember two routes they regularly appear on: 400 and 288. However, once the new shortened route 400 goes into effect at the end of the month and State Transit is fully in charge again, I think you can (obviously) expect these oldies to dissapear off the route for good.

I often saw 14.5 Ansair Oranas on Anzac Pde runs up to a month ago, when I last frequented the area. Their retirement from P well be very historic as I believe they were the first depot to receive them. I got on one only days after their introduction in 1993 at Maroubra Jcn on a 393. It rattled and carried on just as much as now!

I see P 14.5's all the time on Alison Rd in the peak hours on 891s, but perhaps they don't work as flat out on their traditional 39x routes, especially now that P has a stable of bendies.
