There are 2 companies I'm familiar with were Hoys of Wangaratta and Deluxe Coachlines. My father bought a Leyland Tiger Cub/Freighter Lawton bodied coach from them.As for Deluxe Coachlines,I worked for them in 1989 at their depot at Beverly.I knew a few of the staff over the years from other companies.I would like to start a history of the companies including photos, info, memorabillia, etc. If you would lke to contribute please do.

There was an atricle in 1 of the editions of the "Australasian Bus and Coach" magazine, possibly dated around 2005/2006.
It was a 2 page on the history. If anyone remembers the edition can you please mention it here?

I remember in 1985 and 1986 when driving for Across Australia Coachlines ,driving to Perth ,talking to 2 Deluxe drivers in a Denning. They bought their coach new and were subcontracting.

Were there two Hoy's Bus companies, or just the original Wangaratta base with a Depot in a Melbourne suburb, somewhere around Mordialloc or Sandringham?

I think their main base was always Wangaratta but they did set up depots in each state.Their Adelaide depot was Pope Street Beverley. It used to be part of the Adelaide Denning factory.

Here's a great image, circa 1960, of two Mercedes coaches (O319's?) outside Hoy's in Bright.

That's a White, MX-187, going down Murphy Street in 1970. Photo is from the State Library of Victoria, here's a closer look at the bus:

Deluxe Coachlines final livery was mentioned in Truck & Bus magazine around 1988 maybe 1989.There was a sub contactor who had the livery first then Deluxe liked it so they used it.If anyone can remember the article can you scan and post it here please? Thanks.
