Re: New South Wales
No to Armidale & Cadia.
My cryptic clue is: "Ulan" was a close guess, but not geographically speaking!

Re: New South Wales
It's nothing to do with the puzzle, but I was just checking a few things and came across something called the Peculiar Knob Iron Ore Project

I'm not sure what the mine names are, but is it a mine around the Muswellbrook?
White lives matter too.

North Parkes mines Ulan.
Re: New South Wales
Nope
Re: New South Wales
I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a quarry rather than an open cut mine - Bombo quarry maybe?

Silica sand mine East Ulan.
Re: New South Wales
Not Ulan and not Bombo, although we did visit Bombo quarry too on the same trip!
In fairness this location is usually referred to as a quarry, however mine and quarry are interchangeable terms - even the employees and managers I spoke to whilst there referred to it as a mine - sorry for the confusion.franfran wrote:I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a quarry rather than an open cut mine - Bombo quarry maybe?

Re: New South Wales
I'll take a guess and say the Penrith Lakes Scheme quarry.
Think for yourself, while it's still legal !
Re: New South Wales
Kulnura Quarry?
Re: New South Wales
No to Penrith, Somersby & Kulnurra
Re: New South Wales
OK I think I've exhausted everyone's imagination, so as to stop you looking up lists of mines/quarries in NSW the answer is:
Blue Circle Southern Limestone Quarry in South Marulan
Blue Circle Southern Limestone Quarry in South Marulan
Because the correct location was South MarULANIkarbus wrote:My cryptic clue is: "Ulan" was a close guess, but not geographically speaking!

Re: New South Wales
And a headache what we need is after two or four guesses a clue should come in not to easy but some sort of clue that is close or near to the area something maybe we can work on.
Re: New South Wales
Let's hope the next one is a bit easier - but not too easy - you want it to be a bit of a challenge............

That was a great one, Ikarbus. Good to see a real head-scratcher posted here recently.
