2790ST in Maroubra 02/01/17
I have noticed this bus quite a few times lately in Maroubra and saw it again today. Does anyone actually heed the message on this AOA really?? Waste of time IMO. Looks nice though. Enjoy!!

One would only hope people pay attention to an AOA like this. This, along with TV advertisements may do some good. But the truth is, you are right. Many people just simply ignore such things...Swift wrote:Does anyone actually heed the message on this AOA really??

It is a case of being in a no win situation. If they dont do anything they get criticised and the same if they do something. I think it is better to do something even if most people ognore it.

A more truthful campaign would be "Buses do stop on a dime due to disc brake technology so don't swap seats while bus is in motion - you could go flying!"

I think that is actually the total opposite of what they are trying to say. They are trying to warn people outside of the bus - not those inside.

I think Swift's comment was tongue-in-cheek. There is a point there - some driver's are way too hard on the brakes.

My point is that buses can stop pretty quickly nowadays and that presents it's own problems.

Naturally the same happens with trams and Mebourne's "Rhino" campaign is a result of this.
However, unlike a tram, the buses here have an additional danger. It's bad enough falling without having a flight of stairs to fall down as well. I won't elaborate on that obvious point, otherwise Daniel will emerge from the woodwork and tell me off again!

Sigh, another irrelevant comment. One step right at the center door which you would not be descending unless the door is open and the bus clearly stopped
This is getting like parrahub....

And one in the aisle. The comment is highly relevant to the topic.Daniel wrote:Sigh, another irrelevant comment. One step right at the center door which you would not be descending unless the door is open and the bus clearly stopped

I was referring more to other models and in the video the reporter is standing on a set of aisle stairs.

Re: 2790ST in Maroubra 02/01/17
Pay particular attention to 1:27 just before the fall. The passenger gets out of her seat as the bus is driving in traffic without grabbing hold of a hand rail. You can bet everyone thinks she is all innocent when she is partly responsible for her mishap.
We need to campaign for passengers to stay seated or have a firm hold at all times because today's buses CAN stop as quickly as a car, contrary to the message peddled on 2790ST.

I have seen 2790 in that particular AOA a few times. You know what would be really ironic and kind of funny, is if someone caused 2790 to have an accident or incident because they were doing the complete exact opposite to what the AOA on 2790 tells you to do around and on buses!
