Re: What is your favourite game?
Flight Simulator. It's about the only 'Game' I'm any good at.
I miss playing it because my PC is still in Melbourne and I can't justify spending $2,000+ for a new gaming machine when FSX's performance is still quite woeful even on latest machines.
I'd love to try Prepar3d (by Lockheed Martin, which is a rebuilt version of FSX) but many add-on providers don't support it.

I just wish we could all get along like we used to in Middle School, I wish that I could bake a cake made of rainbows and smiles and we'd all eat it and be happy.

Re: What is your favourite game?
I used to play FSX all the time and my computer was able to handle it on reasonably high graphics just fine. My computer is a $700 gaming machine built three years ago, so I'm sure that even todays computers for around that price range would handle it just fine.Brendan03 wrote:I miss playing it because my PC is still in Melbourne and I can't justify spending $2,000+ for a new gaming machine when FSX's performance is still quite woeful even on latest machines.

Re: What is your favourite game?
I had one built around June to my specs. I7 4770K, SSD, 7950 CF, RAM recently bumped to 32gb, liquid cooled.
Ultra settings are still only good for about 10-15fps in scenery. I now run aircraft in ultra, adjusting the traffic density and scenery to give me about 25fps.
3D monitor + FSX = where it's at.

Re: What is your favourite game?
The issue for me with FSX is using high end payware addon scenery and payware Aircraft.
My 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo/4GB RAM/1GB eVGA GTS250, If I loaded London Heathrow up... with I think it was Aerosoft's London Heathrow addon and PMDG MD-11X, The computer would sit there for about 5 minutes trying to load all the textures and scenery files (Building shapes etc) then would just die.
I think this was partially due to FSX being poorly written and being unable to cope with all the detail, but also due to the way the FSX Game Engines work that they couldn't really utilize a multi-core processor.
If I was going to build a new computer for FSX, I'd go for a $400 CPU (and that's before video card or motherboard)

Re: What is your favourite game?
Unusually for someone my age, I'm not really a gamer. Even on my phone I don't really play anything, I prefer to actually be doing something (playing guitar, piano, basketball, riding buses, photographing buses, seeing friends, etc.) than playing a game. When most people would probabyl be playing games (i.e when I'm not doing anything on the above list) I read stuff about things that interest me.
If I had to pick a favourite game it would be Cities In Motion 2, as I like building my own City then designing a public transport system for it. Hardly counts as a game, but anyway...

Re: What is your favourite game?
Scrabble! (and Minecraft!) it's on my PC however is not portable so I'd like to get the pocket edition of it.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

I've played a bit of Scrabble myself. What's your average score?

Re: What is your favourite game?
Scrabble is alright until you play with someone who cheats... I'm not very good at it unfortunately. Same with Chess, I like but I'm sh*t at it.

Depending who I'm playing, I can usually average around 400 a game without any cheating.

Re: What is your favourite game?
MSTS is a great game, but it's getting past it's use by date. It's like when I think about the low floor CNG MAN vehicles in Adelaide 15-17 years old, and then I think of the age of 422 (the oldest bus in service) being 24 and a half years and still getting around. The age limit for an AdMet bus is 25 years, but this excludes rail substitute vehicles. They're usually retired about a year before their 25th birthday.
This comment relates to Railworks (Train sImulator 2017), which was designed around 2006 by Kuju (now Dovetail Games) and has a new version with a few minor changes released each year. It's ten years old, but MSTS is only 5 years older, not 7. It still runs ok on Windows 7, but not sure about the newer operating systems since I haven't tried them and have no intention to. Hopefully Windows 11 will have a similar interface to Windows 7 with a bit of compatibility for older games
