Mercedes-Benz 1042 preserved

It gives me great pleasure to announce that ex-Transperth Mercedes-Benz O 405 (1042) has been secured for preservation. (1042) was the first Volgren-bodied bus to enter route service in Perth in 1990, and was the only bus of its class to be built at Volgren's Dandenong (VIC) headquarters. This bus operated for PATH Transit (Malaga and Trigg) after privatisation and subsequently was refurbished to be used for TransEsperance / Redlion Bus & Coach. It returned to Perth in 2014 and saw a few months of service at sWAn transit Gosnells before being decommissioned with a coolant pressurisation issue. (1042) will be a valuable member of the ever-expanding German Omnibus Club of Australia (GOCA) fleet and will be a great ambassador for 90's bus travel in Perth.

679, 686, 688, 1042, 1048 and 1051, that makes six. 1052 is also a part of the GOCA fleet, but it is slowly being dismantled as a source of spare parts.
