Ritchies Fleet List

I moved to north of Auckland 3 months ago. I've had discussions with Mr O.C. Benz about the fleet lists and seen that Ritchies website indicates over 900 buses.

The website lists many locations where school services are provided [I was told they have about 120 buses in Northland, about 6o in Whangarei alone].

I am attempting to provide updated details on the Ritchies fleet so have visited 5 depots - Whangarei, Orewa, Helensville, Swanson and Albany, as well as viewed from places such as Albany Station and Takapuna Centre. My lists are not complete.

So far I have validated 376 buses as in service. With duplicatons of numbers, I have noted 30 replacements. In most cases I have a fleet number, however I have missed it on a few occasions or have not been able to see one! Quite a few new buses are noted. I saw a Honda LDV school bus at Swanson yesterday with fleet number 946, but not yet registered, and #948 at Dargaville.

UPDATE [Monday 18th August] - I have been to Dargaville [have complete list] and returned to Whangarei and corrected some and added some.

My request is for anyone with current fleet details throughout New Zealand to advise me [either post here or PM] so that I can continue to build the list and provide them to Mr O.C.Benz for publication. Please provide registration, fleet number and depot.

If you would like a copy of my full list so far, please send me your email address in a private message. The list has a fleet number column and I have filled in only that number, so there are many gaps already. Ritchies give fleet numbers to cars/trucks/cranes and these are noted too to account for that fleet number.

Ritchies have operations in:
Northland - Whangarei plus Ruakaka; Dargaville plus Mangakahia, Opononi, Maungakaramea and Kohukohu.
Auckland - Albany, Swanson, Helensvile, Orewa.
Rotorua.
Blenhiem - plus Kaikoura.
West Coast - Greymouth & Reefton, Westport, Hokitika.
Christchurch.
Ashburton.
Chatham Islands.
South Canterbury - Geraldine, Fairlie, Timaru, Temuka.
Oamaru.
Dunedin.
Gore - plus Balclutha, Clinton , Milton, Owaka, Riversdale, Tapanui, Te Anau, Wyndham.

This makes it so much harder to collate the full lists - sometimes we travel for holidays or work and maybe able to add to the data base.

I have seen another message that many comments are on Facebook - I am not a facebook user so maybe missing opportunities for information.

Helensville - Orewa

Helensville oversees Orewa - which is a parking area at 120 Foundry Road, Silverdale, shared with houses ready for sale.

Buses might swap between the two depots as I saw some at both locations.

Alterations to Fleet lists:

PG8705 [1990 MAN SL243, known as Hummer] was not seen.

A very smart setup. I was permitted to walk the depot.

Saw vehicles in Intercity, Stray, Adventures travel and 3 non operational Party Bus units.

648 - BLD760 - Designline Designtech Macrotech has major fire damage and is with the Party Buses.

554 - GFB435 - Scania K400 has allover advertising for BNZ and Ritchies.

433 - HFD233 - Scania K400 is in a special Intercity livery with the rear half of the bus in a bright green/white design.

This Bus ( ex Northbus/Waka Pacific - NZBus, Stagecoach Akl, YBC #1105 ) was not included in the sale to Ritchies and is currently parked up in the Go West- NZBus Swanson Depot for scrapping.
