NZSL202 wrote:That's what I thought. Do you know what her licence plate number was? The records I have state it was EP7258 but that bus has been in Hawera since June of 1987, and given that the first two MAN's turned up in 1986....
Man Sl202's order of Delivery:

2 & 6 Arrived 1986, 1 & 3 Arrived early 1987 & 10&11 Arrived Late 1987

Number 3 went to Hawera & as far as I know was converted to Movan status
Number 2 in in the Bay of Plenty as a Movan. 10 & 11 went to Hanhams buses in Albany but were sold off before Ritchies purchased the company. 1 Became the Mobile Library.I am unsure of the fate of 6.

I hope this helps

Thak you for that.

Looks like the lic plate info I have for #1 is actually for #3 then.

The first two owners are of the 1967 AEC Reliance 2U2RA:
New Plymouth City Council
Taiporohewui Trust

Afterwards it was turned into a Movan (pic below)

Will try and find the right info :(

After years of struggling to find original untouched destination signs from the ex NPCC fleet, my patience has finally paid off.

Below is the side destination blind from New Plymouth City Transport (NPCT) MAN SL202 #6, which will be from here on stored extremely carefully for posterity.

This vehicle was bought brand new in 1986 by the New Plymouth City Council (NPCC), sold to Goldstar Bus Lines of Hamilton in July of 1991 (but allocated to the New Plymouth depot), then E.C. Reesby Rotorua in Dec of 1991, and finally to Leopard Coachlines in Christchurch in April 2009.

A big thanks to Mikey (readerbus) who alerted me to the sale of #6 by E.C. Reesby to Leopard Coachlines in Christchurch, and of course to the Leopard Coachlines crew who agreed to supply the blinds! Well done!

A copy of the front blind which has more routes, will follow shortly.

Tranzit have the CityLink contract until at least 2011, but there are some other significant changes coming.

Yes, that's the one. It was a late night service that catered for the Pictures (aka movies!) in the mid 1980's. There were a couple of designated Picture Bus routes that amalgamated around 8 major routes each whose last service ran at the very late time of 10.40PM!

It's funny to think about the streets being deserted throughout NZ at that time of night. These days, that's when things are just getting started!

A lot of work being done to these buses. The mobile stage conversion on leyland leopard #20(WCT 480) is a real eye opener!

Ex Palmy, ex Brisbane Ansair MAN 10.155's with a handfull of Jappers thrown in.

The TRC are boosting services over contracting brand new buses, which I think is the better way to go. The HBRC have done the complete opposite.

Will post some pics when I get back.

We should probably keep this as a historical "New Plymouth City Transport" thread and create a new General - New Plymouth thread.

Apologies for bumping the old thread but...

Just wondering if anybody had any pics of the Mercedes-Benz 0305 vehicles in the green NPCT colours, especially from the back or side on. Trying to piece together enough material to get a drivable bus made for Trainz Simulator but obviously got here a bit late to see the earlier pictures posted on this thread as they have now vanished! Thanks for any help possible.

New Plymouth last trolleybus was withdrawn 7 October 1967 the trolley buses used were Crossley Empires these and the Crossleys operated in Wellington were last ones built by Crossley before the takeover AEC.
