Maitland Bus in the year 1800

I have just found this photo on Flickr this photo from 1800 which shows the East and West Maitland Bus Company owned by Mr J Watson

Photography wasn't invented until 1822. That's later.
Was Maitland settled that early and did they even use the term bus back then?

There are some newspaper references to "Watson's buses" in Maitland in the 1880s, found via Trove.

Perhaps there was a typo in the original caption that was entered on Flickr by whoever uploaded it, and it was meant to say 1800s?

Quite a typo. It says in the year 1800. The language leading to it is specifying a particular year.

I doubt that it would be the first ever typo or completely wrong photo caption on Flickr.
