Sorry bus stops
Sorry bus stops
Interesting read about a competition in America to identify unloved or inappropriately sited bus stops as well as several examples in Melbourne - any such bus stops in Adelaide?
Some on the 821/822 are in physically impossible locations to board the bus. Some stops on the 751 and 900 routes are quite isolated in the middle of nowhere.

45A Old South Rd as it's only a 30 second walk from the interchange. There is no reason for its existence.
Re: Sorry bus stops
This pair of bus stops on Wakehurst Pkwy would definitely be up there for taking the chocolates in this competition: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.770 ... 384!8i8192. An 80km road with no pedestrian crossing facilities in the middle of literal nowhere. There isn't even enough room for the bus to pull over without jutting out into the traffic lane.
This pair isn't much better, but at least it has a pedestrian path connecting to a nearby residential street and the inbound stop has a shelter: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.759 ... 384!8i8192.
Finally, this one further south at least has somewhat of a proper bus bay to safely turn in and out of, but you still have to negotiate your way through some shrubbery and unfriendly terrain to get to or from the stop: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.778 ... 384!8i8192.

Mate, this is the Adelaide forum. If you want to post about stops in Sydney please use the NSW forum.Cazza wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 9:21 pm This pair of bus stops on Wakehurst Pkwy would definitely be up there for taking the chocolates in this competition: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.770 ... 384!8i8192. Re: Sorry bus stops
The first post of this thread links to a Melbourne based forum, which in turn talks about bus stops in America. Last time I checked they aren’t in SA either...
Re: Sorry bus stops
Well I appologise for providing (what I thought) was an interesting handful of stops relevant to the topic at hand. In the future, I will make sure I make a completely new and irrelevant topic for a singular post that relates to a new topic that has just be made, just so we can have State segregation and continue to have a completely rigid forum structure.

Re: Sorry bus stops
Great pick up Lt Commander Data. Any idea why this is being removed as it looks like it's more accessible to those who live on Gully Rd whereas Stop 24B only services 2 houses. Also of interest is that 24A towards the City has a very decent bus pull in area!Lt. Re: Sorry bus stops
No idea why this one stop is being removed when there are plenty more dangerous/inaccessible stops along these routes. Maybe the beginning of something bigger?

Re: Sorry bus stops
Having a look on Google Earth, it shows there are no houses anywhere near stop 24A Greenhill Rd. To be honest, there could be a lot more bus stops along the Routes 821/822 that can be removed as they're in the middle of nowhere with no house's anywhere near them.hillsbus wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 9:40 pmGreat pick up Lt Commander Data. Re: Sorry bus stops
Looks like there's nowhere for passengers to wait at stop 24A either, especially on the northern side. You would be literally standing on the road, and jumping off onto the road, into a queue of traffic behind the bus. Looks pretty dangerous.
Re: Sorry bus stops
Stop 45A Perry Barr Rd, Hallett Cove (681 & 720 services) is to be removed due to lack of use.
Re: Sorry bus stops
I've picked up and dropped at that stop although that was when the Tafe building was still a Tafe.
