Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
I actually wasn't being 100% serious with that query. It just seems to be an impression of mine, but possibly not the actual outcome after 840 is withdrawn.
Anyhow, I have noticed that the backrests on the new 1000s and 1973-1999 continue to be very unsturdy. They basically hit you in the back every time they go over a bump.
Is this intentional by the manufacturer, or is it a design fault? It doesn't seem like the new arrivals are any better than the jackpot CB80s. It seems that some Bustechs have this problem, whilst some aren't as bad.
And on an unrelated note, 1943's next stop tone hasn't been audible for weeks now.

1102 SB 91 DI was involved in a near fatal collision today a chinese girl on her phone wasn't watching where she was walking and walked straight into the mid section of the Bendibus which was trravelling at approximately 50km/h she went under the wheels and twisted her left ankle all this happened right in front of me i rang her an ambulance and luckily my girlfrriend is a nurse and attended to her at the scene a woman partially blocked the dual carriageway off with her car in full hi vis and diverted traffic around the prone woman as i arranged a ambulance for the injured woman. she was taken to hospital and the diver of the Bendi took my details about the accident none of which was his fault

Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
They're generally called "articulated" buses now. Bendy is an old school term. You don't need to mention the rego, as the fleet lists provide all that info, and it would have been in plain view to the observers anyhow, including the police.
Whereabouts did this occur, and what time?
The near instant braking (from any speed) is something you don't mess with on modern buses, but on rare occasions, it has to be used.

Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
I have heard something about all (T)721s having another 3 minutes added between Beach Rd and Old Reynella, with down services from South Rd 33 to this interchange being the same.
Sounds absurd due to the fact that 721s often sit there for over 5 minutes taking out time already. Are Southlink running times ever actually properly reviewed?

What's gonna replace it though? It is the norm in Adelaide to have at least one white elephant trial bus service operating before being scrapped.
Did the DPTI seriously expect this service to be a success? A 371F would probably be more practical, or even a service to the moon operated by a modified NL232.

Nothing will replace it-poor patronage bought this cancellation on.

Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
In this morning's Sunday Mail the announcement that Adelaide's major bus operator Torrens Transit has been named as the major sponsor of Adelaide's Carols by Candlelight.
A few weeks ago it was announced that the event was in danger of not going ahead if a major sponsor was not found.
Transit Systems (owner of Torrens Transit') CEO Clint Fueurhardt himself an ex South Australian say as a child he remembers travelling from his home in Port Lincoln to attend the event and he said he didn't want to see it finish up.

Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
Interesting ?Wonder why they weren't sent to either Morphettville or St Agnes depots?
Re: [July/Aug 2019] SA transport observations
I have since found out that these Artics have incorrect axles fitted for the O-Bahn and new ones are being sent out to replace the.
