New year, new thread, new things to report. The usual creator of these threads is away on a cruise ship, so I thought I'd jump in and create these ;)

Spotted tonight that Carbridge #18 (MAN 18.310, King Long “6122 AU) is now down in Melbourne. Still retaining the QLD plates (173VSS) but is in Qantas colours.

Thanks,
Mitch

Transit Systems are taking over the operations of Sita, effective as of next week:
BCSV wrote:It has been confirmed with Cos Sita that ownership of the Sita Coaches business will transfer to the shareholders of Transit Systems as of early next week (it was meant to be today but a few last minute PTV issues have delayed it by a few days). Sita signed a 10 year contract with the PTV last year.

The Society would like to extend a big thank you to Cos and his family for the support they have provided to the Society over the years. This support of the Society started with his father George way back in the late 60s when the Society was first formed.

The Society is also happy to see a successful Australian owned company in Transit Systems take control of the business. Cos' son Joseph will manage the business and all staff will have continuing employment with the new owner. We wish Cos all the best after many successful years in the bus and coach industry.

This is only the Sunshine depot and routes, not the Kastoria/Mitchell transit side of the business is this correct? Also does this mean that we may see route changes and so on.

IIRC, the Nothern Transit Group (Kastoria, Broady/Nationwide and Seymour) is owned by a different Sita brother and is a different company entirely. So it won’t be affected by the Sita takeover.

Thanks,

Other than the fact route changes would generally still need to come from Transport for Victoria, past takeovers generally have seen little changes to routes in the short to medium term (the US takeover allowing 688 to be extended to Upper FTG being a notable exception). With Transit Systems only operating Sita and no other operators in Melbourne, I am not sure what you'd expect to change, even with the new contracts. Might have been a different story if CDC took them over, given the overlaps in several western suburbs.

Sita's Brimbank area routes were overhauled in mid-2014 (420, 422, 427 & 428 the result) so I'd doubt those would be changing again too soon. However, the Melton network is rather overdue for a refresh & extension, the existing network has not changed since September 2010 despite the continual addition of new estates!

Kind Regards

Craig :-)

Report on Sydney TV news today that a "Kittens" Party bus from Melbourne was involved in a head on crash with a truck near Dubbo. The bus driver was reported deceased.

There is confusion because the bus was advertising a Kittens strip club in Brisbane. Rego appeared to be KITKAT

There is/ has been such a club in Melbourne. A car wash as well.
Its been in the news over clashes between the owners and OMCG members. The club was firebombed or something like that at one stage.
I have an idea there was a change of ownership in Melbourne so maybe the original owner was relocating the bus to the Brizzie venue??

Possibly the one on the corner of Warrigal and North Rd in Bentleigh East has shut down, so maybe clashes have caused this to happen
