PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Typo.. That last line should have read 1801, which along with several others of the same series and various NHs have been listed as parts or still active at depots when they have been at Manheims or stored offsite for quite a while. The fleetlist is fairly outdated now.
Also has any one any idea where the Renault Arctics have gone for scrap, auction or storage?

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
It can boil down to mistakes from people in the know, whether typos, misinterpretation or otherwise. Simply checking registrations can be a good idea to confirm or deny rumours of a vehicles demise.Pinza wrote:So this proves you can't always believe what you read about stored/parts vehicles......
For the record, those CNG NHs offered for sale were noted as "As Is/Where Is/Under-lift Tow Required" in the advertisement. In other words, whoever purchased them were responsible for collecting them. Worth mentioning; just because they were offered for sale doesn't mean a sale occurred.
Only a small handful were auctioned off. My understanding is the fleet-lists were never updated with accurate disposal information for the majority of Renault Artics as the exact fate of the ones not sold (i.e. when they were taken off the road, sent off) was never confirmed (several vehicles auctioned off early simply vanished; a friend of mine reportedly sighted a Perth PR180.2 in Queensland!). Poor 737 is one exceptionPinza wrote:Also has any one any idea where the Renault Arctics have gone for scrap, auction or storage?
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Thanks for the clarification Merc1107, unless they are actually sighted it really does seem like an impossible task keeping track of disposals. Having been involved with the transport industry in the UK and NZ Transperth set a new benchmark in vagueness of disposals for me. Being a govt entity you would think that freedom of information would enable this information to be available. For example in NZ they have a superb website ‘FYI.govt’. Which enables us to access information like locomotive disposals, planned work etc.
That 0405NH tour sounds a great idea

B-Set 107 was seen graffitied on the Joondalup Line yesterday. Utterly disgraceful, and only 2-3 years in service!
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Noted 1918 in service at Rockingham this morning, not sure if this a transfer or just cover for refurbishments

it is on Gumtree,i am in New Zealand,so you have to find it
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Dissapeared in the last month or so are the 0405s (I believe they are listed on the fleetlist for spares and owned by the owner of 1048) that were parked up near Baldivis. 1051,1092,1097 and 1104. There may have been one or two others as well at some point.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
I didn't have any luck finding 1045 on gumtree but I did find 619 (converted to motorhome) and 1083 (the seller said they had two available but I don't know which the second one is) listed.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Had a drive around today.
1310,1311,1312,1314,1315,1316,1317,1510,1514,1515,1516, 1518 and 1519 all parked up at the back of Canning Vale. These all look ok and plated, so it would be logical that these may be the next for Manheims etc.
1806 is also there but is missing most of its body side panels.
1326 is also at Freo North, along with various From the 154x to 156x series.
Manheims now has 1140-1144, 1701-1703 and 1305 visible and at least another 4 in storage

Bset 49 is back in service following refurb (been at claisebrook since December) set 50 has gone into refurb
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
2425 seen at curtin uni today so it might have been transferred down to CV or Beckenhan
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
After looking thorough my notes and the fleetlist it would seem that the buses listed in my earlier post now stored at the back of Canning vale are all if not most of North Fremantle allocation of older NHs (bar 1326) and the buses that are now at North Freo seem to be the ex Beenyup 15xx buses.
Could someone out there please explain to me the benefits of replacing 18 year old buses with......17 year old ones?!
E.g. It it a kilometre based change or just that the replacements are in better shape.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Sorry for double posting today (didn't realise until I was sorting my photos today) but 1657 is back in the default Transperth livery after having AOA for the last three years. Not sure if the change is permanent or it's just awaiting new livery

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
@Pinza, it would be an age displacement regime, where a B7 would be delivered, which in turn sends a 15xx down to NF, which then would retire a 13xx.
Cheers!

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Would this be the reasoning behind the recent changes in Mandurah too? Mandurah recently retired most of their 11xx series (some of which are on Manheims now), and at about the same time received the rest of Wangara's 12xx O405s. Would that be to displace the recent B7/8s that have been delivered to Joondalup? I don't think Wangara has had any new deliveries other than 2659, and possibly 2645/6 which were transferred up from other depotsOff The Rails wrote:@Pinza, it would be an age displacement regime, where a B7 would be delivered, which in turn sends a 15xx down to NF, which then would retire a 13xx.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
The same technique was used previously when the O305Gs, and more recently, the PR180.2s were replaced. In some instances high floors were sent elsewhere to replace other buses (or so it seemed), for example: 732 returned to Mandurah around when 753 disappeared, 722 seemingly replaced 732. 721, 734 & 749 spent their final days in Fremantle.Off The Rails wrote:@Pinza, it would be an age displacement regime, where a B7 would be delivered, which in turn sends a 15xx down to NF, which then would retire a 13xx.

A more curious case was that of 670, which ultimately served with all three current contractors.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
It's not uncommon for 1 for 1 transfers to involve moving other buses around to accomodate a reduction in a depots overall fleet age
Just using this as an example... Lets say that 1777 is withdrawn from Malaga and 1777's replacement is 2764. Now 2764 could be delivered to Bayswater & something like 2000 could end up at Malaga to even out the fleet. Again, just an example.

If it's not a ZF, take it back!
