The only Renault arctics I've seen outside transperth operation are ex708 in Baldivis last September and ex730 on the Roe a while ago. As Merc1107 points out they are pretty rare. It would be interesting to know if they are scrapped. As posted earlier 722 was in the service shed at Mandurah after sitting without plates for a while then was turned around so some work was done to it before it was removed.

Seems to be a good few ex Adelaide Volvo arctics around
did u mean 38. because 39 does not past near library (Wright St). 39 goes trhough area belmont forum area near KFC (Fulham St) or maybe that is 39 that deviation to Belmont School

Probably just decommissioning from service.

708 & 730 are still very much intact. The latter has recently undergone extensive works and is now with GoPartyBus. The former has been acquired for preservation.

At Manheims today. 1140,1142,1702,1703,ex loves coaches 803 and 825 all in silver/black ready for sale. Also Renault 1073 was at the front sale area. At the rear storage area was 1143 still with plates and another 5 anonymous NHs.

At Welshpool truck centre (bus) were 3046 and 1675 outside, several 23xx buses inside and 2 brand new unregistered B8s around the back.

730 was going to be preserved but I ran into difficulty so then sold it to Go Party Bus.
Looking to getting more Transperth bus, train and ferry models made up through Transit Graphics.
Currently driving for The Transporter & Buswest Wangara.

Manheims is on Grogan Road. Head towards the international airport T1/2 and the road connects Horrie Miller Road and Abernathy Rd.

Also of note is 1169, this has been in and out of the back of Rocky since last week a few times so I can only assume it may be being used for driver training or some such.

While we're on the topic of locations, where's Welshpool truck centre?

And also, anyone know if we're getting more B8 rigids for regular service? It kinda saddens me that there are only four for each operator, they're so silky smooth compared to the B7s. I thought Volvo stopped selling the B7 chassis last year?

The truck centre is on Furnace Road off Orrong Road (between Kewdale Rd and McDowell). It sort of Runs next to Orrong and there's nearly always a few buses outside

I've been told from a reliable source that the pta aren't ordering anymore b8 rigids. The pta have gone back to b7s

The B7 chassis was indeed discontinued by Volvo quite some time ago. However, Perth have reverted to B7s until the supply of B7 chassis is exhausted; the Euro VI B8 product is naturally more expensive as it is newer, and boasts better environmental credentials.

Volvo Group has discontinued the B7RLE generation of bus any B7RLEs that are on order would be surplus units that PTA have sourced or it could simply be a contractual arrangement PTA has with Volvo and as the supplier they have to honour their part of the contract to supply X amount of B7RLEs to PTA who are probably trying to exhaust supply having said all of that Volvo are offering the B8RLE in both euro 5 and euro 6 variants with different engines producing different levels of horsepower and torque (280, 320, 350hp) for the euro 6 variants, the contract has been altered many times over the past 5-6 years so it’s honestly hard to gauge how many B7RLE units are left on order, the contract is coming to end an soon anyway and PTA are in the process of preparing for the next bus supply contract for Metronet. the D8K B8RLE engine also went through a major revision last year, anything else is pure speculation and “fake news”

1808 is still at Mandurah. One or two interesting/elderly buses on the way back from the airport yesterday.
1705 on a 37, 1555 on a 103, 1528 on a 930 and 2584 on a 27 amongst others.

1705 has been and still is in storage for ages and ages now. I’m not sure sure what you saw but it wasn’t 1705.

Spent a couple hours in the city and Joondalup today, a couple interesting observations

- 2687 delivered to Joondalup, managed to get on it today. Only 680km on the odometer when I was on it so it looks like it's only been out a couple days. New bus smell is amazing

- 2645 seen at Joondalup Station, looks like it's been moved up there after its brief stay at Palmyra

- 2659 also seen at Whitfords so looks like its also been moved up to Joondalup/Wangara along with 2645

- Also saw 2593 on a 950 but I think that's been in service for a few weeks now

PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018

Post by TP1462 »

Further to reiterate the Volvo Group bus supply contract, in yesterdays budget documents it states that the PTA will purchase the final 91 euro 6 buses within the existing Volvo contract and commencing in July next year a new order for 900 "new technology" buses will be ordered over a 10 year period

"With a fleet of over 1,600 Transperth and Transregional buses, the Authority needs to ensure that buses are safe,
efficient and reliable. The Authority does this by staying abreast of new technologies, by maintaining rigorous
maintenance standards and through a rolling bus replacement program. In 2018-19 the Authority will purchase the final
91 environmentally friendly Euro 6 buses from an existing contract for Volvo buses. The Authority has invited tenders
for the next 10 year bus replacement program which will see an estimated 900 new technology buses purchased over the
10 year contract period commencing July 2019."

Was great to see the 3000 enter the EQ Bus Station on a 115 around lunch time today, it's been a very long time since I last saw the Scania L94UA CNG artic in the wild.

Looks like Swan B8RLE 2589 is operating out of Beenyup, it was seen in Balcatta today running the 414.

Also another newbie for Shenton Park as I saw 2594 running the 950 at EQ Bus Station today.

Saw 2596 at Elizabeth Quay earlier today, another new one for Shenton Park. Not long til 2800 now! (It might even be out already seeing how quickly they're putting out the 2590s)

Very soon i'd say as TP2800 has been registered.

and on the other side of things 1303 - 1305, 1140 - 1143, 1700 - 1703 are all no longer registered.

Most of those are on Manheims right now so I would hope they're deregistered!

And on another note, we never did solve the mystery of 3025, so look what I saw at Mandurah Station this morning =) (Sorry about the poor quality, I had to compress it so it didn't exceed the file size limit) Looks like it did end up in Mandurah after all!

1719 is being used a fair amount, saw it last week along with 1805 at the busport and again today on a 39, 1781 on a 960 at Vicky Park and 1918 in Rockingham depot. Also thanks squiddy for that pic that shows 3025 did make it down the road......wonder where it went for the last month or two?

1805 is listed as parts at Palmyra on the fleetlist site so this proves you can't always believe what you read about stored/parts vehicles......
