This is the 2018 version. I will Update reguarly throughout the year. I get online here about every 2-4 weeks.
Can anyone supply photos of current STA buses please....usually "New Deliveries".....
for the on-going Fleet Number Photo Collection that will eventually go to the Sydney Bus Museum..***
I Need photos of any individual buses from within the below "Fleet Number" groups .....
I try and get four photos of any buses within the Fleet Number Group if possible.
The list below was last updated - -16 October 2018
Currently I'm seeking photos of or from the Fleet Number Groups ......
New STA Deliveries.
2840 - 2847 Volvo B7RLE / CC CB80 - just need a few of the last of this number Group.
2848-2885 MAN ND323F / Gemilang In service if possible

Email photo to me direct Ribble@xtra.co.nz please.....or....
Post on here with details - location/date/photographer.
Your sent Photos are not published elsewhere....they are only printed and added to the Historic Albums.

***For those who don't know....
I have been collecting photos of DGT/UTA/STA buses since 2004. I now have 5 photo albums which cover "Fleet Number Groups" of buses starting from the year 1933.
Each album contains several photos of buses within those sequential Number Groups from year 1933 - eg Mercedes 0500LE's within Fleet Numbers 1812-1969; Volvo B12BLEA's within Fleet Numbers 2128-2137 etc.
Because in 2009, the RTA started 'random/individual' issues of ST Registration Plates to new buses and not issue 'Groups of (say) 20 buses of the same chassis/body type', there are some individual buses of different chassis types, now within the sequential Number Groups ....eg Nos 1998; 1999; 2002; 2026; 2233; 2234; 2256 and recently 2784.
As I'm keeping to sequential Fleet Numbers, a photo of each "Individual" bus - such as 2784 above - is also sought, although they 'all look the same' as other buses of the same chassis type/body. There are some 'groups' with only 2 buses in that Group, flanked each side by a longer fleet number series of a particular Chassis / Body combination.
This photo album collection and my Fleet Lists, will be passed onto the Sydney Bus Museum when I pass away.

I believe 2913-2920 were numbers allocated to the B8RLE/CB80. I'm sure you're aware of the production issues with Custom Coaches so they might be awaiting delivery, just not on fleetlists.
This might be 100% accurate but it's a plausible theory

It remains to be seen if 2914 to 2920 will actually be built at all at this stage.

Having waited some months, I'm a little confused with the latest Fleet deliveries.Daniel wrote:It remains to be seen if 2914 to 2920 will actually be built at all at this stage.
I 'think' that 2914-2920 became Volvo B8RLE / CC "CB80" but 3 Groups seem undelivered as shown below.
Can anyone correct my list below please.
2886 - 2892 What are they?????
2893 - 2903 Scania K310UB / CC CB80
2904 - 2912 What are they?????
2913 - 2932 Volvo B8RLE / CC "CB80"
2914 - 2932 Volvo B8RLE / Volgren “Optimus”
2933 - 2942 What are they?????

Check the registrations in the fleet lists and you will find that most of those with question marks went to Transit Systems for region 6.

You can burrow through, starting from http://fleetlists.busaustralia.com/index-nsw.php but here's a summary.
2886-2892 are K310UB with CB80 bodies, transferred to Transit Systems
2893-2903 are same as above, but kept by State Transit (3 yet to be delivered)
2904-2912 are K310UB with Optimus bodies, transferred
2913 is B8RLE with CB80 body, kept
2914-2932 are B8RLE with Optimus bodies, kept
2933-2942 are same as above, but transferred
2943-2960 are same as above, but kept (4 yet to be delivered)
Transfers to Transit Systems only included buses already delivered - the remaining deliveries in ongoing State Transit orders for new buses are not being split, but are staying with State Transit.

Ok .... thanks for all that information. Much appreciated.
I have gone through and have edited / adjusted the list at the top.
I am finding it really hard to source a Photographer/s in Sydney that can supply pics for the Fleet record, those required shown in the first message.
Again many thanks.
Don.

Can you explain...."...transferred to Transit Systems" ...please.
My records are all for the (original) STA Fleet with fleet numbers flowing through...... Are those 'transferred' still regarded as "in the STA basic Fleet'...and thus the Fleet Numbers still are in the listing...???

I have used that link for all my records....I use the "Full Fleet" and "New deliveries" lists......thanks for the offer...appreciated.gld59 wrote:You can burrow through, starting from http://fleetlists.busaustralia.com/index-nsw.php but here's a summary.

Re: Ongoing 1 Photo Request 2018 - STA New Deliveries.
Up until 30th June, State Transit operated in 4 of the contract regions in Sydney. From 1 July, one of those regions (Region 6) has instead been operated by Transit Systems. As of that date the depots, buses and staff in that region were transferred from State Transit to Transit Systems.Ribble wrote:Can you explain...."...transferred to Transit Systems" ...please.

(With a change from one *private* operator to another, there would typically only be a transfer of buses acquired after a certain date (which are owned by TfNSW, not the operator) - the old operator would own older buses and the depots, and the new operator would have to BYO replacements. As State Transit is owned by the government, the government was able to direct them to transfer everything.)
The transferred buses still have ST plates, and judging by the example of Newcastle, that won't change.
Summing up, all those vehicles which have been transferred *were* part of State Transit's fleet, but are no longer part of it.

Ok now I understand. So the Buses shown as transferred, 'should' retain their ST Plates and possibly their 'STA' Fleet Numbers from the on-going Fleet Numbering System.gld59 wrote: Up until 30th June, State Transit .....etc (a long quote) ............Summing up, all those vehicles which have been transferred *were* part of State Transit's fleet, but are no longer part of it.
For my own "Complete list of all STA Fleet Numbers" which is sequential, those transferred buses should simply remain in the List, but shown as Transferred to Transit Systems..?
5 October. I see buses transferred to Transit Systems are listed in BusAus Disposal Listing.

Yes, because they were part of that fleet (just withdrawn from State Transit service rather earlier than would normally be the case ).
Re: Ongoing 1 Photo Request 2018 - STA New Deliveries.
And depending on your own personal rules for this collection, that may allow you to consolidate number ranges, too. (Depends on how you treat a continuous number range which still had outstanding deliveries at the time some buses within that range were "withdrawn"/transferred.)

My "Rule" is to simply follow the STA Sequential Fleet Numbers which originally started at 1001 and ran through to 3999 (with the 48xx / 49xx exceptions) and once 3999 was reached, mostly reverted back to 1000. We are currently in the Third repeat of 1001-3999. although at times, some blocks of numbers were not used, such as 1227-1499 in the 1970's - reserved for a possible Atlantean fleet- and 1001-1099 were not used in 1999 at the start of the Third repeat, but Bus No 3982 was followed by Bus No 1100 for the fleet of Mercedes 0405NH. Various individual Fleet Numbers have not been used due to the matching M/O Rego Plates being issued by RTA to Private vehicles or other Bus Companies......hence in the years 2006-2009, we have the 48xx/ 49xx series and why the ST Plates were introduced starting at 1800ST in 2008. But all that is another story.....!!!!!

Yes because they are no longer operated by STA.Ribble wrote:5 October. I see buses transferred to Transit Systems are listed in BusAus Disposal Listing.

OK...so to further my understand of the implications of the transfers of the buses.....to Transit Systems....Daniel wrote:Yes because they are no longer operated by STA.Ribble wrote:5 October. I see buses transferred to Transit Systems are listed in BusAus Disposal Listing.
Will that now mean with 2866-2862/2904-2912/2933-2942 having been removed from the STA fleet, the STA Fleet Numbers will / should continue from No2960 in numerical sequence. Will Transit Systems have a separate Fleet Numbering sequence or a new one...or still use the 'STA' system...?
Perhaps my misunderstanding is that STA is a NSW Government (TfNSW) owned company, but it seems that Transit Systems, from Google, is a 'private company'.....???

Re: Ongoing 1 Photo Request 2018 - STA New Deliveries.
Your last sentence is correct and TSA are using their own fleet numbering system. There were some buses in the new bus range which went to STA and were transferred to TSA on 1st July, the same as older buses. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Me ... _Contracts under region 6.
