C'mon Tonyp, you can't compare any 'real' low floor bus to this standard , surely?!?
The CSELR will be expensive, but it will be no white elephant.

These are really a very nice LRV. Not too fussed about the seating fabric, but everything else definitely looks absolutely marvellous!

The interior looks nice. I'm assuming the TV screen in the wheelchair area will display information about the route. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Just to choose a typical European example, here is a Solaris-bodied low-floor bus:Swift wrote:C'mon Tonyp, you can't compare any 'real' low floor bus to this standard , surely?!?
Yes some of the seats are up on plinths or wheel-arches, but so are this tram's seats. If you want a vehicle with all the seats down at floor level you have to go to a more sophisticated manufacturer like Skoda:
Alstom would be the equivalent of Holden to Skoda's BMW.

Re: Sydney new Citadis X05 trams
Australians would think Alstom is the Mercedes and Skoda the Skoda car before Volkswagen bought them out! We are that brand obsessed here and assume the better known name must be the better product. The mentality is Alstom are from France, that's enough for me!
While the Skoda is a dream layout for a bus it is no substitute for the tram experience, but certainly worthy of consideration for the cost and flexibility it offers over a tram.

Re: Sydney new Citadis X05 trams
I think you mean Solaris. The first photo with the spotty seats is a Solaris bus, the bottom picture with blue seats is a Skoda tram. My fault for not making it clear enough.Swift wrote: While the Skoda is a dream layout for a bus

Re: Sydney new Citadis X05 trams
Lol, well the same applies to spotty the bus.
The Solaris "spotty" true low floor looks considerably more cave like compared to the tram. Plus it's simply impossible for it to match the ride experience and sense of permanency.

I don't think that the TfNSW chevron pattern livery suits the factory standard black paint around the window lines on the driving units and the middle carriage.
