Is it true that QR are not sending the 60 series EMU in for refurbishment and push button upgrade due to the impending entry of service of the NGRs? I would've thought that they would be done by now, but nothing at all. Still looking forward to seeing these in service when that time comes, but it will be a sad time for those who grew up catching the EMUs as they slowly get withdrawn.1of55 wrote:706 & 707 arriving at maintenance centre coupled together behind diesel.

Train units 708 and 709 arriving at the Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre today. They are arriving in twos now, coupled together (as 706 and 707) pulled by two diesels. They also arrive already numbered. This was the best shot i could get using my mobile phone.

Re: Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre
They must be running out of ideas. That front looks hideous. Why the aversion to a flat face front these days? New York's subway trains still use a more conventional (and attractive to my eyes) flat front style.

Re: Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre
Rear of 2 x 3 cars set of flat fronted train (SMU) number unknown, entering the WMC. Unusual, as centre was stated to be for maintenance of NGR trains only. Later seen in the WMC with the SMU coupled to an NGR train.

That's how a commuter train should look. Non of these ugly proboscises that do nothing ( like a typical Australian premier these days).

Re: Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre
I believe the drivers cannot see the end of platform markers from the seated position, so they are almost useless and have stopped the contract?
Never again have to wait in a Q,in Queen Street ?
Re: Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre
They are certainly giving the NGR trains some prolonged testing. There are 13 of them here now and the Maintenance Centre is beginning to look quite full. I haven’t seen any in service yet but did see 702 on test runs on Friday at Redbank station (still with some seats removed and load testing in place) and it stopped where it was supposed to. The brakes made a lot of noise when it pulled up.

Any idea when sets will begin to go into service. I'm guessing the maintenance centre would be getting full now.

QR are giving NSW a run for its money when it comes to being bureaucratic and slow.
Just place the blinking thing in service already and guinea pig the commuters.

Re: Wulkuraka Maintenance Centre
No date announced for first units to go into passenger service and no more will be arriving until all issues are sorted with present units.

Hopefully all issues are sorted soon with the first lot of sets, so emu's can boost 3 car sets to 6 car sets on services that need it.

NGR 704 still running as a test train out of WMC. A few things i noticed when it was stopped in the station. The doors have open buttons actually on the doors. The priority seating areas are marked on the outside of the carriages. The information display screens are at the end of the carriage.

What has it been, 18 months. Doesn't this look embarrassing for QR yet? Maybe of they got the design brief right in the first place?
