Mercedes-Benz 0305G PMCSA

Post by ScaniaK320 »

Some of the retired O-Bahn artic buses are making their way over the ACT.
562 left last week and the road trip, from what I hear 566 will also be joining her sister in the ACT.

Great Buses, ACT gain, SA Loss.

One of these vehicles is now operating as the Moonlight stretch limo (http://www.facebook.com/moonlightstretchlimo). ACT rego is MO335. I assume the other bus is being kept for spares.

Has anyone got photos of these Merc's in service? would love to see the livery and what they've done to them.

Interesting. 562 chassis number ends 042676; 566 is 042616.

I've finally got a close-up look at the "Moonlight stretch limo". According to its rego sticker, its chassis number ends 042475. The Southlink decal is visible under the purple paint, yet I can't find this listed in the fleet lists.

Their original STA allocated numbers were actually those mentioned with a one in front of them (rigids, 1501-1541, artics, 1545-1595). When the PT system was privatised around 1996, Serco got the contract and renumbered many old STA buses into their desired number range.

Nice to see that, apart from the livery, the bus has been preserved rather well. I wasn't expecting to see the centre and rear doors intact. 2 questions: how much were they purchased for and how many O305Gs (or O305s) are left in Adelaide now?

1545 was delivered as 1502 and renumbered after the test period ended.

The O'Bahn was privatised in April 2000 with the fleet renumbering as follows

Mercedes Benz 0305 1501-1541 becoming 501-541
Mercedes Benz 0305G 1545-1595 becoming 545-595
MAN SL202 1321-1345 becoming 421-445.
MAN SL200 1900-1909 becoming 901-909

The MAN SL200s were not used on the O-Bahn (although one may have gotten a test run, and I think there was one case were one performed an emergency replacement for an O-Bahn service).

Many more MAN SL200s numbered in the 1900s and also the 1800s were renumbered as 127-179 and 830-839. A mostly complete list can be found here: http://fleetlists.busaustralia.com/adm.php?search=SER, which also shows two of them renumbered as 826 and 827.
