Mandurah Line "K" Stopping Pattern Services
Is anyone aware if there are plans to extend the number of Mandurah Line services to Rockingham Station (shown as the K Stopping Pattern in the timetable)? Currently there is only one service a day departing Perth Underground Station at 5.57 am and returning from Rockingham Station at 6.37 am. Is this something that Transperth is considering once the Thornlie line has been extended to Cockburn Central?

Not immediately but there are plans to introduce a future shuttle service between Clarkson & Rockingham but that’s still several years away and would require additional infrastructure such as crossovers and sidings at both Clarkson & Rockingham

Forgot to mention, Thornlie line services will run independently from the Mandurah main line only special event services will deviate into the branch line it’s mainly for operational reasons and to maintain network resilience and reliability so we will essentially have two Cockburn shuttles if that makes sense it’s unclear how TP will differentiate the two. The track between Glen Iris and Cockburn will be quadruplicated to four tracks including associated upgraded track infrastructure and a dock terminus platform built at the northern end of Cockburn stationTP1462 wrote:Not immediately but there are plans to introduce a future shuttle service between Clarkson & Rockingham but that’s still several years away and would require additional infrastructure such as crossovers and sidings at both Clarkson & Rockingham

Interesting for the Midland/Freo lines for 2031 there are 18tph shown but the table still shows the 6tph for the two 'parts' of the line. Maybe that's where they're intending on slipping Ellenbrook trains in (if that line gives a one-seat journey into town, so much for 'operational resilience' with three different services sharing one set of tracks! Then again, politics usually trumps any sort of sensibility, unfortunately)?

Re: Mandurah Line "K" Stopping Pattern Services
There are, I think, 3 services at either ends of the peak on the Joondalup line which are a K pattern (alternating All-W-All-W-All-K-All-K) terminating at Clarkson. Clarkson may require a siding, however there are already crossovers there.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Re: Mandurah Line "K" Stopping Pattern Services
The Joondalup K pattern and Rockingham K patterns presently have no link to each other. K Patterns on the NSR are just short workings that terminate at Clarkson and return to RCD.
If it's not a ZF, take it back!

I’m curious if Ellenbrook trains will be 3, 4 or 6car sets Forrestfield services will be 3car seeing as the Midland line platforms can only accommodate 4cars apart from East Perth & Perth and soon Bayswater and. The Caledonian Ave is scheduled for permanent closure within the next 2 years the railway parade bridge will probably become traffic light controlled and a right hand turn lane onto Whatley Crescent will most likely be added (hopefully). Ellenbrook trains will run into the city but not straight away at least not until platforms are extended and PTA can find a suitable location to turn the trains around and the extra platforms at Perth are built, duplication will be very complex the most costly part will be at East Perth and duplicating the tunnel and the area around Claisebrook, the new CTBC based signalling system and moving the TransWA terminus to Midland with the new station should free up some capacity on the Midland line but will most likely be run by 3car Bs with minimal C set deployment so any extra capacity is lost with dwell times mainly at BayswaterMerc1107 wrote:Interesting for the Midland/Freo lines for 2031 there are 18tph shown but the table still shows the 6tph for the two 'parts' of the line. Forrestfield will be 6car, and be running express pretty much to Claremont, most likely stopping at Bayswater, East Perth, Perth West leederville (although not 100%) and Claremont, Although to be honest I don't see why they cant just run to freo station. Freo is capable of handling 6car and be good for tourismTP1462 wrote:I’m curious if Ellenbrook trains will be 3, 4 or 6car sets Forrestfield services will be 3car seeing as the Midland line platforms can only accommodate 4cars apart from East Perth & Perth and soon Bayswater and. Re: Mandurah Line "K" Stopping Pattern Services
Forrestfield services will be exclusively 3car the recent timetable change on the Midland & Fremantle line reflects this and will support the planned 5 peak minute and 7 minute off peak frequencies between Bayswater & Claremont stopping all stations including Subiaco. The Claremont station upgrade is now minor the platform extension and new overpass has been abandoned due to “community concerns” at least for the foreseeable future anyway and Claremont was selected because it’s the half way point on the Fremantle line similar to Cockburn or Whitfords and will provide a larger base with better connectivity to the airport Fremantle station would run into capacity problems mainly on the bridge with extra services. Only the Armadale/Thornlie line is getting 6car platforms mainly for the Mandurah link trains. the express services are being phased out and there won’t be any express services on any of the new lines the only reason why they existed is due to a shortfall of railcars and when TP operated way less services Perth has grown substantially since the 90s and early 2000s the changes to the operating dynamic reflects Perth’s growth in density and population.
