Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Also 1900 - 1929 and 1938 - 41 (from what I've seen in my travels) have all been refurbed and are in the current white- numbered livery, but 1932-33 and the rest of Palmyra's OCs (I assume) are still in the older livery so it looks like they haven't been refurbed yet
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
1880 hasn't been refurbished, i saw it today at the EQ bus station sporting the older livery and extreme deteriorated paint work on the roof.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
saw it today and also still has the ad also. usually the bus that get refurb not have an add. Also is quite surprise that bayswater start their refurb a bit slow compare to SR/Palmyra beside some of the OC need really refurbished even i think that 16xx OC non refurb from gosnells is more cleaner and not have deteriorated paint like some of the bayswater bus.sylar wrote:1880 hasn't been refurbished, i saw it today at the EQ bus station sporting the older livery and extreme deteriorated paint work on the roof.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Like I said a couple of posts back:
Paint deterioration would depend on how often vehicles are washed, how they're washed and the chemicals used to do so.
Regarding the condition of unrefurbished OCs at Gosnells/Southern River; they're roughly equivalent in age to what is being refurbished now. But remember Morley & Bayswater based vehicles operate in the busiest contract area in Perth, so of course they're going to show more signs of wear and tear. Those sWAn buses operate in a comparatively quiet suburban area, and are, as you note, very clean.
So yes they're (technically) due, but there are other un-refurbished (and older) vehicles that went first.Merc1107 wrote:...as these are the later deliveries, and about 8-11yrs old. Some of these OCs are new enough to already have the current paint scheme.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
The swan units at SR are indeed cleaner and tidier considering some of the suburbs they service however but that’s more of a company business model than anything else and they are pressing on with the refurbishments with 1642 being the latest back I haven’t seen 1643 or later yet that’s also because of the new Volvos at SP which has allowed for some extra NHs to be transferred to SR to cover for the extra OCs that are in refurb at any given time now having said all of that swan transits commitment to presentation and tidiness is of a much higher standard than the other two operators, I often see drivers sweeping out their bus and cleaning the seats which maintain the companies high standards

I don't know about the last two, but I saw 2590 on a 103 to Fremantle last week so I believe it's at Shenton Park

Agreed with your comments on Swan Transit having high presentation standards, their bus fleet at Karrinyup and Beenyup depots are also consistently very clean/tidy both inside and out. Some of the filthiest buses i have traveled on have been from the Malaga and Bayswater depots.

B8 rigids 2586&2587
B8 artics 3082,3085 all at midvale depot
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Today I saw Swan Transit's newest B7 2592 running the 950 at EQ Bus Station in the city so it looks like it was delivered to Shenton Park depot
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Went back to have a look at Rockingham Depot today, 1153 and 1154 haven't moved but 1169 is no longer there. I haven't seen it in service anywhere so I don't know where it went.
Also saw 1987 operating a 555, which is unusual as Palmyra buses rarely venture down here

722 is no longer at Mandurah Depot, meaning there are no more Renaults artics down this way. Are there any more left in Perth or was this the last one?

722 has been withdrawn and was the last one in service. There are no more high floors in servicesSquiddy wrote:722 is no longer at Mandurah Depot, meaning there are no more Renaults artics down this way. Are there any more left in Perth or was this the last one?

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Does anyone know where the Renault arctics have gone for sale/storage? Manheim?
1808 is still at Mandurah. One or two interesting/elderly buses on the way back from the airport yesterday.
1705 on a 37, 1555 on a 103, 1528 on a 930 and 2584 on a 27 amongst others.

Interesting observation on 1705, i thought it would have been put in storage by now.Transperthpaperbus wrote:Probably scrap metal yard to their bad condition.Pinza wrote:Does anyone know where the Renault arctics have gone for sale/storage? Manheim?

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
1705 on a 39 was tucked in behind 3031 on a 286 outside the library at Belmont forum - I did a double take when I saw it. I try to catch the 935 if I can as it takes in the forum rather than the 40 which is almost always a newer bus. Sometimes it throws up a 13-14xx series but rarely.
Close behind 1705 was 1567 but didn’t get the route.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
Only a very small handful of Renault artics were 'released into the wild.' during the six or so years since withdrawals commenced. I think it was 11 by my count. There whereabouts of a number of these buses is unknown, although I recently heard of one being sighted over in Queensland.
Observing 1705 out is certainly interesting, but given there was a football game at the Stadium, it isn't totally surprising. Its conceivable the bus could have operated one of the Stadium Event Services sometime during the day.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
But for 1705 to be out on a non-game day (remember, 286's are M-F only) is a bit odd.
Cheers!

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2018
3031 was on the 286, I think 1705 was on a 39 but I only had a good look at the side number which first caught my eye and the back rego plate to confirm it was 1705. It was sitting behind 3031 at belmont forum outside the library pointing towards Abernathy road.
The only Renault arctics I've seen outside transperth operation are ex708 in Baldivis last September and ex730 on the Roe a while ago. As Merc1107 points out they are pretty rare. It would be interesting to know if they are scrapped. As posted earlier 722 was in the service shed at Mandurah after sitting without plates for a while then was turned around so some work was done to it before it was removed.
Seems to be a good few ex Adelaide Volvo arctics around
