Very happy to see the Blue CAT will be continuing to service Barrack Square - the rumours are unfounded!!

Transperth never listens to the community. Those community sessions are only a token effort. Really, once Transperth has a plan in mind they implement it no matter what the community says.

In regards to the Mandurah Line, various improvements have been made, including the extension of the 15 min frequency until 9pm Monday to Saturday, and trains running every 10 mins or less for a fair whack of the day.

From Mandurah (Weekdays):
First services now depart: 0449, 0504, 0517, 0527... then every 10 mins or less until 0828... then approx every 15 mins until 1310... then approx every 10 mins until 1812... then every 15 mins until 1957... 2019... then every 30 mins until last service.
From Perth (Weekdays):
First services now depart: 0530, 0553, 0557K, 0608, 0628, 0633W, 0638... then every 10 mins or less until 0923... then every 15 mins until 1353... then every 10 mins or less until 1853... then every 15 mins until 2053... 2115... then every 30 mins until last service.

From Mandurah (Saturdays):
First services now depart: 0504, 0534, 0557... then every 15 mins until 1957... 2019... then every 30 mins until 0019... then 0059.
From Perth (Saturdays):
First services now depart: 0530, 0600, 0630, 0653... then every 15 mins until 2053... 2115... then every 30 mins until 0015... then 0115 and 0215.

Sunday services are not much different from present.

These train service improvements will mean that the Joondalup, Mandurah and Armadale-Thornlie (as far as Cannington) Lines will all have trains every 15 mins until at least 9pm. With Armadale-Thornlie trains running every 15 mins until midnight every night.

New Route 930 (Route 925 during the consultation period)
Will run a high frequency services between Elizabeth Quay Bus Station in Perth and Thornlie Station. This service will run via Shepperton Rd and Albany Hwy Spencer Rd.

Interesting they've used the number earmarked for the airport service (now 380). However 930 as signifying the airport service remains at http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/Portals ... %20Map.pdf

The train timetable changes appear to recognise that frequency is king, with more of it for more of the day. Stopping patterns will be simpler and there won't be as many long gaps at certain stations. Stopping everything at Canning Bridge will assist connections to Curtin. These seem reasonable trade-offs as the time added for longer distance trips is modest and that (for some) may be offset by the better frequency, particularly in the evenings.

Omitted appears to have been anything for the Midland line, unless this is being saved up for later. The current setup is good for the likes of Bayswater and Bassendean but smaller stations only get a 20 min peak service which is poor. Should all trains stop all stations, or, given the push to develop Midland as an employment hub, is there a will to retain expresses to cut journey times from Perth?

Really the Midland/Fremantle lines need services running every 7.5 mins during peak - or at least every 15 mins for each station. It's pretty poor that peak frequencies are worse than off-peak for most stations.

Would be nice if it was sorted soon, but we might have to wait until the Airport line is running (lack of rolling stock etc.)

I recall being "shut down" when I suggested our biggest route be renumbered 998-9! (I'll send anyone $20 who can dig up my suggestion)

Transperth service changes - 2016

Postby TP1462 » Wed Dec 09, 2015 12:04 am

These changes will also properly see the last A set removed from peak period on the Butler/Mandurah line if I remember correctly with the previous Armadale/Thornlie line timetable change an A set was removed so it's entirely possible that the same principle may apply next month

I wonder if Route 210 and 211 could use Volvo buses to drive because I haven't seen them for a while. All it does comes from Oc500LEs and O405NH midis!

Not likely to happen as the 210 and 211 are primarily run from Southern River which has no Volvos. The only time this could happen is if a round trip of 210 or 211 is run from either Beckenham or Canning Vale which would typically happen during school holidays.

So other routes driving to and from the Esplanade Train Station will need to get their timetables upgraded to Elizabeth Quay Station from 31/1/2016. I believe that the Route 220 will stay at the Elizabeth Quay Station until the new Perth underground busport gets completed @ the end of June this year.

I would say that most (if not all) timetables will be reprinted to reflect the changes on Jan 31st.

I don't think the
220 will be the only service to relocate from the Busport to the new WSBS. A few that come to mind are 102 107 881 and 940. Unless some shuttle service is created, these services will provide a link between the two stations. We'll have to see when they are eventually released.

Just a question, why did the 220 go to Wellington Street? It always struck me as a bit odd.

I think that's due to the fact that there are a few normal bus services (except the Yellow/Red CAT). Plain St really needs a bus route.

220 basically replaced the Albany Hwy (Vic Park) services that were withdrawn....8 to 13.

Other services that will return to WSBS are the 30, 31 & 34. So, anything that ran there and was curtailed at the Busport will resume when WSUBS becomes operational.

Wishful thinking - I would introduce a new CAT to purely run between EQBS and WSUBS.

Wishful for sure but unfortunately that's the plan. I agree with your wish....a CAT to link the two, possibly something bi-directional that incorporates the Terrace (bit like the old Red Clippers). Ideas are endless dreams lol

Trouble is that passengers just don't like transferring between services.
The first time the 30, 31 and 34 services were stopped at Esplanade (while the temporary WSBS was being built), patronage dropped and never fully recovered once they resumed their cross-city extension.

Of course, having a high-frequency shuttle CAT that used the same row as the 30/31/34 at the Esplanade might make a difference there. Not having to go up across and down might reduce the hassle factor enough.

(Same comments probably apply to the other WSBS/Esplanade services, of course)

Back in the old days, Wellington Street-bound services from the City Busport set down on stand B5. East Perth-bound services set down on stands B6 and B7. Blue CAT services left from stand B4. With the right planning, I believe that the same could be achieved today.

Where did you get this information, I can't see the new train timetables on the Transperth website? Personally I'm hoping for better connections from the Armadale line to A pattern Fremantle trains in the morning.

They won't show up until the new year, or if you're lucky, late this month.

If you have the Transperth app, the information slowly becomes available as it is uploaded. Haven't checked if the Joondalup line is updated for those dates yet. But the Mandurah Line, 930, a few other routes etc have been. Otherwise you normally have to wait until a month beforehand for pdf downloads or to be able to use the journey planner for the dates concerned.
