Offensive transport ads pulled

Postby z80 » Sun Sep 17, 2006 10:19 am

The PTA has pulled the gorilla add because the gorilla has a fez and muslim groups are unhappy about it.

Who really gives a crap????

1. This is Australia not Iran.

2. I thought it was like an old fashion piano monkeys hat.

That last advertising campaign was one of the best that the PTA has came up with and to have it pulled because a few stupid people can't grow up is pretty sad.

While we are on the topic of offensive advertising how about the Clarion city ads on the back of the CAT buses.

1. I don't need to see some ugly girls breasts on the back of a bus looking at me while i'm sitting at E4.

2. There is one ad where the two girls clearly have an eating disorder and as the "parent" of a teenage girl that offends me.

3. The Clarion city ads also often feature girls with other parts hanging out.

Lets get some priorities right here!!!

Now what stops the public ringing up now about any little ad that anyone finds offensive????

What about that stupid boat show ad with the half naked girl on the back of the cat buses?

** I've just rang about this, and put a complaint in about the cat bus ads. I would suggest that if anyone is offended by any other ad that they take the bus number and ring it in. If three people can get a great campaign destroyed then may be we shouldn't have ad's on buses at all.

At one time Swan Taxis had 444-4444 as their call number and a certain Asian group had that changed because they found the cluster of "4's" was not a lucky sign.

What about the Sexpo ads that were on the buses a few months back for that expo at the Claremont Showgrounds.

In very small letters it had 'ride the gerbel'....

It was on quite a few of our buses at Karrinyup

I liked the boat show ads on the backs of some the CATS recently. The "Do not overtake turning vehicle" sticker was definately in the wrong spot on one the ads 8) . i meant to take a pic but they were gone b4 I knew it.

Maybe, given what Transperth was trying to promote, they should have ripped-off Connex Melbourne's promotion of SMS alerts, involving model train sets (with some out-of-date BR liveries) and stuffed toys.
