Re: Damn Rain
I feel for you. I just found a leak around the back window. Puddle of water in the boot and has stained the carpet halfway up the bus floor.

Re: Damn Rain
At least you found the leaks now and not later when all was finished. Some said I was mad to build my bus outdoors, rain, sun, humidity and generally crap weather but after the failure of some poly products, even some that dissolved in water I am glad not that I did. Even the best prepared joints no matter how good can be potential leaks, even hydraulicking the joint in as you stick it up can pull a good seal away creating a leak.
Wouldn't worry about a few wet floors most ply for years now uses waterproof glues. Mine got quite a few weeks or a good wetting. Leave it dry out and see how it goes.

Re: Damn Rain
I'm doing my conversion outside as well, but luckily my bus had only a few very minor leaks that were only discovered after pulling the inside wall panels off.
I have only just recently painted the roof in barrier shield 2000 paint and it has stopped any leaks and is also cooler inside as well.
Cheers Alex

G'Day Ax8,
How much cooler do you reckon that Barrier Shield has made the bus. I have it here ready to go but haven't got around to it and probably wasn't going to bother as some of the reports say it didn't seem to make much difference if any. I used 50mm styrene on the sides and that silver foil backed insulwool they use in houses under the tiles or iron sheeting for the ceiling. Styrene seems pretty good even with the full sun shinning on the sides but roof still suffers a bit under full sun. Was going to use that bubble wrap type insulation on the ceiling but local bus builders here said don't as the stuff pools water from condensation and stays put, whereas the insulwool stuff dries out. Think the air cons are going to get a work out.

Yep the floor is farked, swelled up around the edges, so now I have to get into the roof and the outside windows and seal em up, guess Ill have to unscrew all the window frames pop them slightly and run some poop around them and then screw them down again'
I dont have the facilities to do any work under cover but thats just the way the breads buttered

Re: Damn Rain
With good ventilation the bus stays around the same temp as outside.
When touching the ceiling on the bus it is cool to touch, so I would say it is worth the effort.

I want to fit a couple of hatches in the roof, with the massive aircon I have in it , it should be cool enough in summer, though when i have the annexe made its gonna go right over the roof rack, so the gap tween the roof the rack and the canvas will act like a tropical roof on an old landrover, I dont do heat or sweat at all, why were going to Tassy for first run.

Re: Damn Rain
Actually saw this full roof cover thing recently on a m/h. They had a roller system on the rear to wind the cover up when traveling. Not a bad idea as nothing insulates like air.

Re: Damn Rain
Got up and had a look for the leak in the rear windows yesty, not one little leak its a 20 foot long leak lol, where the gutter rail is every single rivet on it is popped, so the rail and the sheet behind it is all loose and the water is just pouring in, this meant I had to drill out all the rivets, pull of the gutter then squeeze a ton of sealer in behind the steel plate popped the rail back on with about 50 rivets, this should nail the rear leak that was causing the probs were getting more torrential rain this week so wanted it fixed before then
Re: Damn Rain
interesting, I have developed a leak comming in around or near the back window. I re sealed it but it is still leaking. I wonder if its comming in from the gutter rail rivits like yours?
