Leyland Double Decker VIN 481883 EX 2165.

Post by MJR »

Hello All,

My wife and I have recently acquired a Leyland DD with the VIN 481883 and have been told it may be ex. 2165 from B. Lockhart in DUNDAS NSW. My grandparents lived on this route if in fact it is the vehicle and we would love to get original information and photos of the vehicle to have framed inside the vehicle. We are doing a restoration / conversion to a permenant "boys cave" in the yard and am doing a semi original rebuild. We want to have some pics laminated and framed around the vehicle as we enjoy and appreciate the heritage of these old units. I will be pulling the engine and gearbox for a full rebuild for sale. Please let me know if you find anything or please post pics as available. Thanks in advance

Hello MJR,
I am looking to acquire the valves in the gear sector tower for my Leyland Atlantean Double Decker bus. I cannot find the valves anywhere so I am looking to acquire a complete tower including the contents. see photo attached.
Is this something that you have on your bus and if so are you interested in selling it?
Cheers

2165 is a 1948 leyland with synchro gearbox, and would have nothing in common with an Atlantean

Have you tried Mr Motorparts at Auburn? If they can't help, you might be able to Google some enthusiast sites in the UK for clues.

Thanks Boronia,
Mr Motorparts is my first port of call whenever I am looking for anything. Unfortunately he does not have these parts that I am after.
I am in the process of emailing many google produced leads in England but so far have not had any luck but I am still waiting for a response from a few others.
Some of the people that I have contacted have put me on to other potential sources so the search continues.
Cheers

Most English Atlanteans I've come across over the years have used the electric Mono-Control gear change, rather than the Pneumo-cyclic pedestal.

Sydney had a lot of Leyland Leopards with the same pedestal, so it may be possible to find some of these to get parts from.

Another possibility might be to enquire at hydraulic specialists like Pirtek or EnZed to see if they can offer solutions.
