License for Gas Buses

Post by Sydney_Buses_CB60 »

Hi all,

Out of curiousity, I was wondering if, for a Driver to be able to drive a Gas Powered Bus, they need to get a special license like they would to drive an Articulated Bus. Does this apply everywhere or only in some states or does it just not apply at all?

Cheers,

A driver's licence is not related to the type of power plant, only to mass and axle configurations.

The operators would be expected to give type specific operational training for any bus its fleet.

when the new gas buses came to ryde depot each driver was given instructions how to drive it & what to do in the event of a fire!................as 2nd in charge of the village transport buses for the Olympic & parra games many drivers from Newcastle & other depots were trained on these buses..............as with any new model each driver has to have a orination on these new model buses ...............also when ryde took over northern western buses all drivers working out of the now closed Gladesville depot were trained on A.E.C /HINO /VOLVO/& PARRAMATTA MANUAL BUSES!
