Torrens Transit Nos. 1788, 1789 & 1790
Neither of the two Hybrids (1788 & 1790) have, as yet entered service (one, at least is at Mile End, along side of the fence, next to Richmond Rd)) - does anyone have any idea why they are just sitting idle??
I have not seen Bustech CDI 1790 for a few weeks now - is it still running to and from the airport with its very light loads??

The number 1790 is already being used by the double decker, so unless it's been suddenly withdrawn from AdMet service, it seems strange to have duplicated numbers, or ones following on directly from bus chassis types that were designed over a decade prior. I think 1991 and onward would be more appropriate, or 1541.

I am sorry, the numbers I put in the post were incorrect.
What I meant to say was - what has happened to the 2 hybrids 1788 & 1789 and is the CDI Decker 1790 still circulating on the Airport Express??

I am in town 2-3 times a week and I keep seeing 1790 in service.

One of the hybrids has been on some sort of tour/ demo in both Qld and NSW recently.

I hear a rumor that 1790 (bustech CDI) has suffered a semi - decapitation incident at the Mile End Depot (by being driven into the under-cover refueling line) and the damage which includes windows, desto. etc. is/will be repaired in-house.
No wonder I have not seen it around for a while!!!!

I stayed at the new Atura Adelaide Airport hotel one night, this week - very good it is too, but make sure you ask for 7th floor, runway view!!
So I noticed 1790 on the J1X several times - it really does not seem to carry large loads. I would have thought a better use for this high capacity bus would be to join the Scania/Gemilang DD 3401 on the Mount Barker express services!!!

Still no sign of the Bustech Hybrids 1788 and 1789-certainly not against the Mile End Depot fence. Its over a year since we first saw them.
