Can't see Wingfield being closed as pretty much all depots are either full or close to full, except Morphettville Depot, which has plenty of spare room.

And I suspect that there would be some timetable changes to enable more efficient operations surely.... As in, less 195s and W91s done by Camden Park, as I've seen the odd TT bus go straight past Morphettville depot to get back! No idea about the 502 feeders though. It would almost be a logical for a few to be done by Newton depot.

I wonder if St Agnes will continue to operate broken shifts that include 208/200B round trips, or will it change?

Doubt you will see any timetable changes, only roster/shift changes maybe after a settling in period--ie after end f October school holidays.
Maybe different shift numbers to LCB's

With 12 months to go on the complete contracts,I would doubt if much would change.

it will be great to see the 200's run by depots other than morphettville,st agnes and wingfield.every time i get a 200 currently i dread getting an ex serco elizabeth bus from the nineties on the services since i am old enough to remember what getting those of the 430/415 and other services that used to be run up that way were like.the ones that are numbered 253 to 267.there's not much you can do about that.what was really odd the other day was i got a new bus on the 506 tea tree plaza to paradise low floor but my connecting 174 a few minutes later was an oldie from the nineties.i thought by the start of the new decade which is just over 18 months away those mans with the two high steps to get in were supposed to be phased out.i know this after seeing a family with kids and their mother not being able to get in due to the bus not being able to put prams in and everything else.i wanted to complain when i got home but felt what will that do.

I have it on very good authority that Southlink are submitting a tender for the Outer North East Services when the tenders come up.

Also, Southlink will be tendering for the G10 service (and I assume the G20/G21/320 as well) as a stand alone service to be run out of Lonsdale and Pooraka.

I hope Torrens Transit places a tender for these contract areas,it would fit better with their existing services and location of their depots.

Outer North East makes sense for SL if they take over St Agnes depot and their drivers. Hope Torrens pick up those G routes - can't see those working out too well.

I'd personally like to see the North-South contract area scrapped, with those routes being moved into other contract areas. I'd also like to through running of routes scrapped except for a (few East-West Routes)and replace with routes just doing a loop around city.

One of the advantages of Torrens Transit regaining the O-Bahn contract would be the opportunity to bring back services to the City via O-Bahn from Rostrevor and Athelstone. And maybe through-routing C1 to Airport/Harbour Town/Glenelg as they did prior to 2011.

i agree about through linking the buses to the airport from the eastern areas and the north eastern areas.currently it would cost me between $51 and $66 for a limo when mom cannot drive me and when the existing system of say getting 174/176/178 ex payneham to the city and connecting to the j1/j3 outside the ayres house is not always an option.granted it's not much fun wheeling luggage to klemzig station to get an airport bus but for a fraction of the price why not.also a reintroduction of the o'bahn to town like we had when serco existed ex athelstone,i have a friend who lives on the current 176/178/579 path and if her inbound bus to town gets stuffed in traffic she misses her g10 to work.the only other solution currently is for her to leave really early for paradise on a 178 to get the earlier 502 at 6:30am to the city arrives 6:44am and then connect onto the 7am 200 onto Panorama.

I'd like to see all areas returned to government operation. TransAdelaide
Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.

Yeah but the self-serving idiots in Govt won't do that as they may have to support the services and the bus drivers rather than ignoring them. Public transport should never be run for profit.

It isn't run for profit - but if government runs it directly it runs at a larger loss to the taxpayer than under a franchising model - which is why it should never happen again.

Why would privatisation happen if not for the fact the companies that bid for the contracts can make money off them?

It happens for two obvious reasons - cost reduction and breaking toxic (union) cultures. Not just in transport but in any industry sector. Its only the unions and socialists who oppose it - the rest of the public is just fine as long as the bus turns up more or less on time.

Got to disagree with that. As far as I can see every privatisation has resulted in less choice and higher cost to the end user. It may not be an issue for a bus passenger but every customer of every utility company would probably have preferred things left as they were.

Towns from Verdun to Lobethal including Balhannah, Oakbank and Woodside only have a handful of bus services on weekdays and none on weekends. This area needs more services.

Totally agree with this. Although I don't live up in the Hills myself, I have never understood the lack of services there during the week and none at all over the weekends. I'm sure if there were more services, they would become more popular. Also better services between the Belair/Blackwood area to Crafers/Stirling would get utilised once people are aware of them?

it would be awesome if a straight through northern/north eastern/eastern suburbs bus to the airport was reintroduced.paying for maxi limos all the time can get expensive or brunel or qantas drive just to avoid those taxi drivers whose hygeine leaves a lot to be desired and are instead of being focused on their jobs are half the time on the phones speaking to their family/friends in their native language.it's an easy 15 minute walk from my payneham home to klemzig station even with luggage for such a service especially in situations where I am on an early flight and my mom cannot drive due to the alcohol in her system has not cleared within half a day of the last glass of wine she had.the last time I flew I had to ring smartcar for a transfer due to not having faith in making the bus connections on time.there was no way in hell catching a 176 and connecting to the j1 outside the rah hospital(last year)that i would make it on time.

So leave earlier and catch an earlier bus!

A direct bus won't get you (from e.g. Klemzig) to the airport any earlier. If you catch a bus direct from Klemzig, you must wait at Klemzig for a specific service (J1), whereas you can currently catch the first bus to the city that comes along (maybe 1-2 minute wait) then get the next J1 departing the city. The time waiting in the city would more than likely be the same time you'd wait at Klemzig for a specific service, assuming you turn up to travel without looking at timetables.

Some people make it so much harder than it really is. (And I'm talking about many passengers, not just the original poster.)

In todays tender notices for the SA Government under DPTI the following request for tender appeared.

Closing date is next week 12th February 2019.
DPTI are conducting a request for information process(interactive market sounding) during February 2019 to seek innovative ideas from respondents on how they can work with the people of Adelaide and DPTI to best drive improvements for the Adelaide Metropolitan Bus Network.

The following are some of the bus companies that have so far have requested Tender Document specifications

From todays Advertiser;-
New operators for Adelaide's bus network would be expected to scrap under performing services, deliver better services for less money and adapt to new emerging transport options.
The Transport Minister said they are seeking interested bus operators who can do things differently to overhaul the bus network. He said Adelaid'es bus network is stuck in the 20th Century and this new contract is an opportunity to bring 21 st century technology and service delivery methods to Adelaide to benefit commuters..
This step is the next step before asking companies to tender for the contract.
New operators will be asked to grow patronage and enable simplification of Adelaide's Metropolitan Bus Network,Improved integration of bus services with other public transport modes,More frequent and faster services, less under utilised services, greater collaboration with customers, stakeholders and local councils.
Bus operators would be required to deliver higher levels of customer satisfaction-at the heart of this tender will be the need to make our public transport network more customer-focused.
