If you compared the number of breakdowns with these, to the much newer Scanias on the O'bahn, the number would probably be quite low.

Remember that there are some at Southlink which get up to 100kph several times a week at least, and also at Edinburgh North, along with the odd LCB one running NIS from Old Reynella.

Southlink buses are not supposed to exceed 80kph whilst in service.

Since when?

Aldgate/MB buses regularly get up to 100kph on the South easternn freeway. So what speed are Newton buses limited to? 30?

Around three or four years I think. Dunno about the hills services and the freeway though. Maybe they had different rules. No idea about Newton - ask them.

And why is this rule in effect? Wouldn't Southlink buses be governed to 80kph to ensure this doesn't occur then?

Who knows. Someone complained about going too fast probably. As to governing, the newer Scanias are restricted to 100kph but as the road speed limit is 100 kph on all the roads we travel along it doesn't matter. I did however say whilst "in service".

I saw the Jay Weatherill bus around Smithfield area today. Nice Volvo coach it is too.
Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.

I just don't quite understand this as I have been on several buses on T840 and T843s which have gotten to 100kph. On New Years day, I caught 3311 on a T843 which was driven at about 80 on the South Eastern freeway and 3206 heading back on another T843 which was driven at 100kph by the same driver, who left Mt Barker about 7 minutes late so he could avoid laying over at stops.

Drivers have also sat on 100kph on every T840 I caught in 2017 (around 5 of them)

Maybe the policy only applies to the southern/northern depots, not the hills?

First there was AdMet livery with yellow fronts, then AdMet livery with red fronts. The latest one at Mile End is AdMet livery with a bright green front, one of the new electric buses. Currently plugged into the power point alongside Richmond Road, no fleet number yet but looks like a BusTech body. Or are they now Precision?

Does that mean that they're back in town? And do you mean at Mile End depot?

Like the diesel Bustechs, there may be a little window-line issue to resolve before winning the hearts and minds of the commuting public!

Bustech buses are manufactured by Precision Buses at Edinburgh(north of Adelaide).

From my travels today Light-City Buses has quite a few O-Bahn Artics out of action.
1113 is at Heavy Automatics Wingield.
1127 and 1136 (severely fire damaged) at Scania
1105 out of action(for several months)-Morphettville
1114,1159,1160 out of action (for some time-St Agnes
Can't be too many peak hour O-Bahn spares.

Why is it mainly the artics that are off the road though? Is 1161 officially retired? Is this the second one to be withdrawn after 1120?

Has been mentioned before 1161 was scrapped.

Underpowered to pull heavy loads at high speed and up hills. In other words they're not built for the O-Bahn.

The original Busway Mercs were heavily modified. The Hills Scanias are also modified for those conditions. The Busway Scanias are not modified.

Transit Systems NSW (sister company) to Torrens Transit has just been announced as the successful tenderer by the NSW Transport Minister of Region 6 in the inner western suburbs of Sydney.
They will take over the routes from STA on July 1st 2018.Existing staff will be retained on the same pay and conditions. They have big plans to improve/increase services including on-demand buses as well as electric buses.

And what about the diesel SL202s? Apart from the axles, were they any differences compared to the CNGs?

Also, what was the deal with the 3 speed transmissions which prevented them from doing 100kph? It's ironic that 443 held up Mercs which could get to 100kph, and then it got stuck behind Scanias doing 85kph in it's final years on the track.

Torrens Transit had a large ad in last Saturday’s Advertiser for bus driver positions in Sydney. Enquires to Mile End depot.

I didn't realise 1127 had been damaged by fire as well
1113 seems to have been on and off the road for a while now, and 1160 seems to have been out of action forever!

I had seen 1114 and 1159 in recent weeks so hopefully they are back in business before too long!

Glad that 1127 and 1136 are able to be repaired and not two more scrappings!

I heard a rumour saying that they will eventually be replaced with Volgren bodied Volvos or something that will actually be designed for O'bahn operations. Is this actually true, or not?

I suspect at this stage it is rumour/speculation.
